Dope Announce New Album With Title That References Static-X’s “Mystery” Frontman

0

So for their recent comeback album and tour, disco metallers Static-X enlisted a new frontman dubbed ‘Xer0,’ who was a dude in what appeared to be a dead skin mask of late frontman Wayne Static. And for a long time, it’s been acknowledged that Xer0 is in fact Edsel Dope, frontman of grimy nu-metallers Dope — but as recently as late 2019, Edsel has denied this. But now, Dope have announced a new full-length album…and its title seems to directly reference Edsel’s role in Static-X.

How? Well, Dope’s new album is titled Blood Money Part Zer0, which, though it doesn’t use the ‘X,’ seems like an obvious references to Dope’s involvement in Static-X’s comeback.

Says Edsel of the new album:

“I am so grateful to the fans who have supported me and this band. I appreciate your patience and the trusting relationship that we have built together.

“I never halfass anything and believe that anything worth doing is worth doing right, so sometimes it takes longer than expected. I’ve come to learn that the time between releases only makes our connection stronger and the bond between this band and our fans is unbreakable. I truly love you all.”

Meanwhile, Dope have also released two new singles from the album, “Believe” and “No Respect.” The former sounds like a typical modern radio rock song; the latter at least brings some gallop and anger to the forefront.

You can preorder Blood Money Part Zer0 via Dope’s website. The record drops on January 23rd, 2023. Meanwhile, catch the band at one of their upcoming tour dates with Mushroomhead, God help ’em:
