Charlie Benante’s Got Some New Anthrax Riffs to Show Ya

0

There’s been so much focus on his involvement in Pantera that you may have forgotten, but Charlie Benante is the drummer for Anthrax. What you actually may not remember is that he’s also a great guitarist and has written some of the band’s more iconic songs. I mean seriously, the dude has been contributing guitar parts since the 80s.

And it looks like that side of him isn’t stopping any time soon. Fresh off the band’s tour with Black Label Society and Hatebreed, the dude’s already back to working towards Anthrax’s next studio output. Though it’s certainly not the finished product by any stretch of the imagination, Charlie decided to post some riff ideas to his Instagram page. Truth be told, this clip has some groovy bits in there that I can absolutely see playing alongside some tracks off “Worship Music.”

We’ve known since earlier this summer that the band’s working on their follow up to For All Kings. In my opinion, Anthrax hasn’t missed in their entire run, so any shot at new Anthrax in the near future is an exciting proposition.

Yes, that includes Stomp 442 and Volume 8. Come at me, motherfuckers.

They’re a cornerstone of thrash for a reason and an unmitigated killer wherever they go. Sadly, they won’t be going to much of Europe this year, as it was previously reported that rising costs and logistical problems forced them to jettison their planned tour dates. They’re still slated for their UK shows, so if you can make it to any of the shows listed below, you should absolutely do it.
