Counterparts Release “Bound to the Burn” Video

Canadian metalcore band Counterparts are getting closer and closer to the release of their new full-length studio effort A Eulogy for Those Still Here on October 7. With just a calendar month standing between us and the rest of the album, the band unleashed its third single and an accompanying video for “Bound to the Burn.”

Just as you’d come to expect from Counterparts, the song is heavy but not at the expense of their musicality and sense of melody. Vocalist Brendan Murphy said the new song represented another look into his personal life, except instead of pertaining with his cat Kuma, this track deals with his music career.

“I’m sure it goes without saying, but I do love being a part of Counterparts, though sometimes it can feel like Counterparts/I are easily replaceable in the world of heavy music. This song is a metaphor for how I’ve let the pressure of churning out new music and constantly being on the road ‘kill’ me in a sense. But here I am, still ‘bound to the burn’ because when I DO consider the other options I have for a career, I end up drawing a blank and I can’t think of anything else I’d rather do. I want to be here, but I don’t… I’m learning to balance the two.”

A Eulogy For Those Still Here is slated for an October 7 release, but is currently available for preorder via Pure Noise Records.
