Guitar Influencer Alyssa Day Shreds on “Dread & Dream”

Social media’s done a lot of things, like letting people from around the world connect and speeding up the eventual destruction of the American empire. But for a select few, it’s launched entire music careers and given them a chance to reach a global audience that you used to need a major record label to achieve.

Take Alyssa Day, whose debut solo single “Dread & Dream” just dropped earlier this week. Known as the guitarist for Florida-based tech death metal band Mindscar, as well as for her clips of her playing guitar online, Day’s hoping to turn her nearly 82,000 followers into a successful career buoyed by her own music. and has led her to become a sponsored musician by big names like EVH and Jackson guitars.

Oh and about Mindscar, you may remember that name from 2002 when a certain famous Trivium frontman (Matt Heafy, if you can’t put two-and-two together) plied his guitar skills.

As you can tell from the video below, Day can shred with the best of ’em. The proggy track features no vocals, which is perfectly fine by me, seeing as Day’s guitar should definitely take front and center here.

Day’s said she’s working on an EP titled Ruinous, which you can presave today on Spotify or Apple Music. But in the meantime, check out the super cool, snake-laden video for “Dread & Dream.”
