Ripped to Shreds Set to Tear Up Europe with Newly Announced Tour Dates

0

Our favorite angry, ripping (pun intended) and proudly Chinese-American death metal band Ripped to Shreds, out of California, just announced European tour dates in support of their new record, 劇變 (Jubian), out today via Relapse Records.

Those who aren’t familiar with this ripper (couldn’t help myself) of a band need to get familiar. Their art and lyrics focus on the Asian-American experience and how downright fucked up it can be (think COVID racism and you’ve got the idea of all the unfortunate inspiration the band have). Their blend of straightforward, raw, pummeling, and even classicly-tinged death metal is the perfect compliment to the genre’s resurgence. This new record pushes their sound, and their message, even further, and takes them to new areas of the globe.

Vocalist Andrew Lee said one of the band’s biggest goals is “to increase the visibility of ABCs (American-born Chinese) in extreme metal by being very blatantly Chinese.”

“The cultural context and impact of Ripped to Shreds as a Taiwanese-American band cannot be understated. This is the next level. We’re making that jump.”

Now, the band are taking that very important message and traveling all the way across the big pond, after kicking off with an album release show on their home turf of California. Check out the tour dates here, and tickets to the dates are on sale now.

Ripped to Shred’s new album 劇變 (Jubian) was released yesterday via Relapse Records. You can pick up your copy today.
