Exclusive: Watch Dreadnought’s Captivating Video for “Liminal Veil”

0

Denver progressive metal outfit Dreadnought released their stunning fifth album, The Endless, last year, luring audiences in with trance-inducing vocals, pleasant melodies, heaviness that builds into thunderous crescendos and a general sense of beauty that creeps into both ends of the spectrum. If you didn’t hear The Endless yet, pause whatever you’re listening to and put on the video for “Liminal Veil” right now.

The fourth track on the record, “Liminal Veil” isn’t the heaviest song on The Endless or of Dreadnought’s career but the doomed undertones and psychedelic overtones make it a trip worth taking either way. As the song builds itself slowly, using keys and reverberating guitars to establish a sense of atmosphere before the the band members work themselves into a heavier fervor, the lighting changes, moving from green to blue to deep red. Singer Kelly Schilling explained the idea behind the video:

“Going into making this video, we knew we wanted to have each section represented by different color palettes. This song feels very cavernous and psychedelic to us, so we thought having mostly a black backdrop mixed with the high contrast of lights would represent those feelings while also catering to the ‘shadow’ element of our record concept. We want to give endless gratitude to Frank Guerra for directing, filming and editing with me for many hours, as well as Alex Pace for filming, Clayton Cushman for assisting us with lights, Nathan Poznerzon for assisting us throughout the production and Chris Olejniczak for feeding us!”

The Endless is out now via Profound Lore. Like we said when the album first dropped in August, “There was always something special about Denver progressive doom outfit Dreadnought, but it’s especially evident on their fifth album, The Endless.” Get into it and watch the video for “Liminal Veil” right now.
