EXCLUSIVE: Check Out “Running Down The Sides,” a New Instrumental Post-Metal Track from LESOTHO

Hey metal vocalists — we love you guys, but you’re going to have to take a back seat for this one, as Boston instrumental post-metal trio LESOTHO just dropped a single titled “Running Down The Sides” from their debut album, Through The Dying Light.

Set for release in early April, Through The Dying Light will feature 10 songs. Boasting an airy, yet heavy and ethereal sound, guitarist Kyle Loffredo said the song comes at a transitional point in the record, which the band hope will help them follow a cohesive theme along the way.

“With this album, we tried to build a post-metal record with recurring themes. The song is basically a bridging track. It was intended to build continuity between a couple of other songs on the record with a recurring musical theme. We also flipped the dynamic of our traditional songwriting habits by starting off at a high point and tapering it down to a single melody, which is one of the themes that pops up later on the album.”

Formed during the quarantine, LESOTHO is comprised of Loffredo, bassist Cliff Cazeau, and drummer Zach Ganshirt, though the release also features a guest lap steel guitar performance by Phil Todisco. Though most of the album is vocal-less, the band also recruited Molly Grace Chandler for her vocal talents on “Floater.”

Still, for a mostly vocalist-less album, LESOTHO’s debut might just be what you’re looking for if you like your metal progressive, yet with less singing involved.

Through The Dying Light will be available digitally as an independent release on April 7. The band is currently working on cassette versions of the album, but there’s no date on that at the moment. LESOTHO’s Bandcamp, where their other single “Truth” can be had when you preorder the album.
