Power Trip to Announce Something Tomorrow

0

In a surprising turn of events, the remaining members of Power Trip took to their Instagram account to announce that they’ll be announcing something tomorrow, April 5. We don’t know what it is, who it’s involving, or anything else. Just the promise of an announcement sometime tomorrow.

Fans of the crossover thrash band have been a little confused lately, thanks to the announcement of the Power Trip Festival that was unveiled last week. Though it features six major headliners (and that’s it), there’s seemingly no connection to the Texas powerhouse outfit.

Sadly, the actual Power Trip has been radio silent since the death of vocalist Riley Gale, which was an incalculable loss to the community and to thrash fans everywhere. The supposed end of Power Trip led to the formation of Fugitive, which features Ibanez, Lincoln Mullins (Creeping Death), Seth Gilmore (Skourge), Andy Messer (ANS, Stymie) and Victor Gutierrez (Impalers). They’ve since released their debut EP “Maniac.”

Last year, Power Trip guitarist Blake Ibanez said he and the band’s surviving members planned on continuing to make music under that name. Though he said he wasn’t sure “what that looks like at this time,” this could be it. In another interview, Ibanez said the band was already working on some new tunes and that we’d know more soon.

“Got a lot of music, a lot of songs in the tank. So keep your eyes peeled for what that becomes. I think everybody here, especially that enjoyed Nightmare Logic will really like it. Next thing. Spent a lot of time working on it the last few years.

“People that like all the Power Trip stuff, then they’ll be excited for what’s coming… I can’t say what it is or exactly what it isn’t gonna be. But the plan right now is for it to continue. So that’s all I can really say right now.”

So who knows what this announcement’s going to be. I, for one, am excited to see what Power Trip’s got in store for us tomorrow.
