Lita Ford is Almost Done With Her New Album
It’s been 12 years since the release of Living Like a Runaway, the last true studio album from ’80s metal legend and former Runaways guitarist Lita Ford. She released an album called Time Capsule in 2016, but as that was mostly a collection of songs from old analogue tapes from the 1980s, it’s debatable as to whether that counts as a true studio album. But it looks like the wait is finally over, as Ford says her next studio album is almost done and, like the last album, it will be produced by guitarist Gary Hoey, who will also be playing some guitar on the album.
In a recent appearance on SiriusXM’s Trunk Nation With Eddie Trunk (that was transcribed by Blabbermouth), Ford was asked about her upcoming album and she said that the record is pretty much finished:
“We actually just have to master it, which takes a day. And that’s it. I mean, it’s pretty much done. But I’ve been working on this record with Hoey for a long time now. And I feel like a lot of the songs were in such a personal place, and I would never wanna go back and record those again. So what you’re gonna hear from this record is the real deal. It came from the heart, it came from the soul. I feel like I had to live it before we could write it.”
Regarding her working relationship with Hoey, Ford was enthusiastic about how much she enjoyed working with him, saying:
“And Hoey is the greatest. He just captures stuff. And you start a sentence, and he finishes it. And we work very well together.”
Hoey is a solo artist in his own right, and has also worked with the likes of Brian May, Ted Nugent, Steve Vai, and Deep Purple. So it will be interesting to see what these two guitar greats put together for their next collaboration together.
