Better Lovers to Auction Off One-Of-A-Kind Funko Pops of the Band for Charity
Everyone who knows me knows that Funko Pops are the way to my heart, particularly this one Doctor Who Funko Pop of my favorite companion, Clara Oswald, that I’ve never been able to justify spending $100 on but still really, really want to get someday. So it makes sense that one of the things that Better Lovers are doing for their big Blissmas Charity Carnival this weekend is auctioning off one-of-a-kind Funko Pops of the entire band.
Better Lovers first announced the Blissmas Weekend back in September, which features live podcast recordings of Hardlore and The Downbeat podcasts, appearances from several AEW wrestlers including “The Butcher” Andy Williams, Orange Cassidy, Nyla Rose, and more, a pre-show featuring END, Greg Puciato solo, Soul Blind, Fatal Visions, and more, a main show with Better Lovers, Converge, Fleshwater, Twitching Tongues, Dying Wish, Teenage Wrist, and more, and a special beer release collab. That’s a lot of fun packed into one weekend. But now they’ve announced the charity portion of the event and what they’ll be raising money for.
In a post on Instagram yesterday they announced:
“We are really excited to announce this year’s Charity events and recipients! This time, your donations will 100% benefit @ochbuffalo (The Children’s hospital of Buffalo foundation supports the critical programs, lifesaving technology and care to our community’s most vulnerable. As a non-profit, this donation makes a direct impact in the lives of moms, kids and babies right here in Western New York), @cityofbuffaloanimalshelter, and Sage’s fight to battle Leukemia.
“What are we doing for it? Well, we have a dunk tank. Put Bad Santa, band members and wrestlers in their places in freezing cold water for the cause. We have @canalsidecaricatures doing 3-5min drawings of you and your loved ones/friends. We have one of a kind Funko Pop @originalfunko figurines of each band member. All to be auctioned off for these great causes. So save a couple extra bucks if you can, let’s have some fun and raise a bunch of dough!”
Sage, of course, is the daughter of Better Lovers drummer Clayton Holyoak who recently had to exit their tour because of Sage’s recent leukemia diagnosis. So it’s heartwarming to hear that Sage will be one of the people benefitting from this event. The GoFundMe for Sage’s leukemia battle has already more than quadrupled its goal, but considering the criminal costs of healthcare in America, it’s understandable that they still need more.
