Sanguisugabogg Sparks Controversy with Post and T-Shirt Supporting Luigi Mangione
The entire Internet reacting positively to the murder of United Health Care CEO Brian Thompson has been absolutely fascinating. The posts coming out from multiple places of people expressing their desire to marry or simply fuck the brains out of alleged shooter Luigi Mangione are hilarious, as are all the posts coming out of people supplying fake alibis for Mangione during the time of the shooting. And, if there was anyone in metal who was going to get in on this trend, it makes sense that it would be Sanguisugabogg. (Okay, I wouldn’t have been surprised if it was Tom Morello, either, but it wasn’t, it was Sanguisugabogg.)
First came the social media post early yesterday morning where the band photoshopped a picture of themselves with Mangione with the following caption:
“Just wanted to give a quick shout out to our friend Luigi who on December 4th around 6 AM helped us load our trailer and drive with us to play a secret set all the way to Point Arena, CA which is about 2800 miles from Manhattan and after staying at the show with us all night he bought merch from every band except for the hoodies and when we asked he just replied ‘2 things I hate most in this world are hoodies and 3D printed 9mm.’ Thank you Luigi the world needs more people like you!”
Then later in the day, the band launched a “Free Luigi” t-shirt through a new Big Cartel store called Dead as Shirts that features Luigi from the Super Mario Bros. video game franchise shooting Bowser, the villain of the franchise, in the back of the head.
A number of people were upset with the t-shirt design, the main one being an account called @BigWazowski_ which posts conservative views and opinions about the NBA, who called the shirt design “disgusting” to which Sanguisugabogg replied:
“That’s why it’s sick.”
Then an account called @Toobadoobadoo, that. posts a lot of anti-sweatshop stuff, said it was:
“absolutely amoral trying to profit off this event with your overpriced sweatshop slop”
To which Sanguisugabogg replied:
“Just say you can’t afford it bro”
Sanguisugabogg has a long history of responding to assholes on social media in hilarious ways, so watching the exchanges on these posts is really funny. The t-shirt, in the meantime, is only a limited edition to snatch it up while it’s still in bad taste.
