Behemoth Share New Music Video for “Sowing Salt”: Watch

Behemoth really don’t stop. It seems like every few days their name pops up in some way or another—good or bad—and here we are again. The extreme black metallers just released their latest album The Shit Ov God yesterday (May 9) and along with it, we’ve got a new delightful little ditty and video for their single “Sowing Salt.” Watch it below.

And, of course, frontman Nergal has offered up a flowery comment about the song. He really knows how to describe every Behemoth endeavor in a way that makes each sound like it’s the most profound yet somehow disrespectful (in a good way) thing they’ve ever done.

Here’s what he’s spitting about this new one:

“‘Sowing Salt’ is arguably one of the most brutal compositions in Behemoth’s catalogue to date. Unrelenting. Unapologetic. Absolute. The video was directed by Zev Deans, with whom we’ve had the pleasure to collaborate before. He’s crafted a visual that powerfully completes the song — musically and lyrically. And the lyrics? Just as radical and confrontational as music itself.”

Behemoth have over 30 years of ruffling feathers and starting shit for shit’s sake, and I absolutely love that. They claim The Shit Ov God to be one of their most seditious yet. It’s only eight songs long, but apparently that’s all you need when you know how to make each song poke and prod its way into your earholes and then, programmed deep into your brain.

As of right now, the only show Behemoth have on the docket is in June for the Graspop Metal Meeting in Dessel, Belgium, from June 10–22. The fest has quite a few big names in there, like Opeth, Deafheaven, Slipknot, and Alcest, and Dream Theater, as well as some first timers like Poppy, Fit for An Autopsy and the absolutely not-metal-at-all comforts of Yellowcard.
