Trivium and Bullet For My Valentine to Pull the Plug on ‘The Poison Ascendancy’ Tour

What was once billed as a massive world tour celebrating the 20th anniversary of some pretty influential albums has now gotten the axe over apparent behind-the-scenes issues, as Bullet for My Valentine and Trivium are cutting their ‘The Poison Ascendancy Tour’ way short.

You may recall the moment last year when both bands got together to announce the massive joint world tour that was to celebrate Bullet for My Valentine’s The Poison and Trivium’s Ascendancy. It was big news at the time, with plans for both bands hitting Europe and the U.K., North America, Latin America, Japan, and Australia. Unfortunately for fans, however, it’s since been announced that those plans will end with the n North American run.

News of the cancellations and the apparent reasoning behind them came about when Trivium bassist and vocalist Paolo Gregoletto told fans in a livestream (transcribed by ThePRP) that the blame landed solely on Bullet for My Valentine vocalist and guitarist Matt Puck.

“Matt Tuck didn’t want to do it, after we had planned it, after stuff was already in the works — don’t know why. I think it would have been amazing. I think The Poison is a great album. I think the two records pair very well together. And I think it would have been nice to give everyone around the world a chance to see the two together. But we are going to do North America on our own with other bands. And we will have a lot of special surprises, just because we will [now] have more time to do stuff, so, that’s what it is.”

Trivium itself seemingly confirmed the cancellations in a post on their Facebook, changing the admat to say the tour is now known as ‘The Poisoned Ascendancy Farewell Tour’. The “farewell” looks like it was hastily added to the poster, as to almost definitely indicate that it was an unplanned end to what should have been a fun experience for both bands and the fans.

In a bit of petty online drama, the two bands have unfollowed each other on socials. And though Trivium has made their de facto statement on the matter, Bullet for My Valentine has remained silent on the issue.

As it stands, there are just four dates left, with August Burns Red and Bleed From Within both providing support. You can find the list of dates below.
