Bullet For My Valentine Release Statement About the Sudden End of Their Tour with Trivium

With just a couple dates left in what originally was supposed to be a huge world tour and roughly 24 hours after being called out as the reason for the run of dates getting cut short, Bullet for My Valentine issued a statement explaining why they felt the need to axe the rest of ‘The Poison Ascendancy Tour’ with Trivium.

Originally, both bands had planned to hit Europe and the U.K., North America, Latin America, Japan, and Australia in a bid to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Bullet for My Valentine’s The Poison and Trivium’s Ascendancy. The idea was they’d play both albums in full, since they were both incredibly significant releases in their own right. Unfortunately, however, the bands only got through the U.K./Europe and North American runs.

In the wake of learning that the tours were getting the kibosh, Trivium bassist and vocalist Paolo Gregoletto told fans in a livestream that everything fell apart because of Bullet for My Valentine vocalist and guitarist Matt Puck.

“Matt Tuck didn’t want to do it, after we had planned it, after stuff was already in the works — don’t know why. I think it would have been amazing. I think The Poison is a great album.”

Well, now we have the other band’s statement on the matter. In an Instagram post, the band offered fans an explanation that basically boils down to them wanting to focus on “the next chapter” for the band.

“Hey guys, Bullet here

“As we head into the final shows of The Poisoned Ascendancy tour, we want to thank everyone who’s come out to celebrate with us. The shows have been phenomenal and we’ve loved connecting with every single one of you.

“Being in this band is the most important thing to the four of us. We’re incredibly grateful to have been given the chance to look back at a pair of life-changing albums for us & Trivium, who we have nothing but respect and admiration for. To have a career spanning over 20+ years is an incredible achievement, and we understand all the dedication and sacrifice that comes with that. The celebration of both these albums has been a career highlight for us, there’s 5 shows left out here in the US and then we embark upon a full month of summer festivals in June which we’re really looking forward to.

“With that being said, the four of us collectively feel that the time is right for us to divert our full attention towards the next chapter of Bullet For Valentine. We can’t wait to get back in the studio later this summer and finish what we promise you is our best album to date. To go along with this, we are already starting to make plans for the 2026 & 2027 touring cycles, hitting every corner. We are super excited to drop new music for you all. We value our fans above all else and are forever grateful for your support. We’ll be back with all of you very soon.”

I can’t help but think that if I were a fan and I’d been anticipating seeing this tour in my home country, I’d be deeply gutted that it wasn’t happening. The explanation from BFMV is a bit of cold comfort in a way, since the whole run now ends this Saturday.
