Do people still watch DVDs? That was the first thought that came to mind when I learned that ex-Megadeth guitarist Marty Friedman was putting out a recording of an upcoming concert on DVD. Then I remembered the average Marty Friedman fan is either someone in their 30s to 50s or a Japanese schoolgirl with a bookcase full of anime DVDs, so… the perfect audience for a DVD release.

Earlier today, Friedman announced the upcoming plans in a video posted on Instagram. Throughout the clip, he talks about his upcoming concert at Teatro Cariola in Santiago, Chile on June 13, and that it is set to be filmed for a future exclusive album DVD release.

Speaking about it more detail, Friedman shared:

 ”Santiago, Chile, I have a wonderful, wonderful announcement to make to you guys. We’re gonna be recording a live DVD and a live album in your wonderful country and wonderful city of Santiago on June 13th. We’re so honored and excited to be doing this. It’s gonna be me, of course, and [drummer] Chargeee, of course, [bassist] Wakazaemon, of course, and [guitarist] Naoki [Morioka], of course. Can’t wait to see you there.”
