Matty Matheson’s Band Pig Pen Unleash New Single “Rabid Beach”
You may know him for being that cool, really funny chef on The Bear, but right now, Matty Matheson is making a name for himself as the vocalist of hardcore outfit, Pig Pen, a band fresh on the scene.
After launching the group in March, earlier this month, Pig Pen dropped their debut single, “Mental Mentality.” Consisting of frontman Matty Matheson, guitarist and backing vocalist Wade MacNeil (Alexisonfire), guitarist Daniel Romano, bassist Tommy Major and drummer Ian Romano, Pig Pen are a band you definitely need to be checking out right now.
Back by popular demand, the group has unleashed a brand-new single, “Rabid Beach”, with an sketchbook-type music video. Talking about the meaning behind their new release, Matheson says that it’s about, “mental health shit” and how loneliness can easily be a vessel to “letting your mind destroy you.”
He continues,
“You can be having a beautiful day, surrounded by friends, and your brain can continuously ruin it. No matter how good or bad your life is, you can still hate yourself. I’ve got to ask myself why am I feeling the ways I’m feeling?”
“Rabid Beach” is lifted from the band’s forthcoming LP, Mental Madness, which is scheduled for release June 27 via Flatspot Records. Fans can pre-order the record and take a look at Pig Pen merch here.
