GoFundMe Launched After Amigo The Devil Loses Everything in House Fire
A lifetime’s worth of irreplaceable art, unfinished songs and lyrics, heirlooms and possessions were lost in a recent house fire, leaving singer/songwriter Danny Kiranos — otherwise known as Amigo The Devil — with little more than heartache and loss. It’s a devastating situation that you’d hope no one would have to go through, but thanks to efforts in the music community, it’s looking like he and his loved ones may soon have the funds to begin picking up the pieces of their lives.
Over the weekend, Kiranos posted a number of photos on his Instagram showing his home completely engulfed in flame, along with the smoldering aftermath, explaining the extent of the damage and everything lost, including his partner’s dog, Kobe.
“Everything is gone.
“I have both too many and too few words right now. I’m happy and grateful for all of our lives. I’m devastated for anyone who put love, effort and kindness into making this home what it was.
“All the original Amigo art, dozens of handwritten lyric books filled with songs that’ll never be, hard drives with thousands of demos throughout a lifetime and the backups of them, test pressings… the whole journey… gone.
“I’m horrified for the irreplaceable loss that Abbey is going through of her best friend, the best little dog that so many of you met this last tour, Kobe.
“A lifetime of collecting is gone. Just, a museum level of a pieces that I feel I’ve failed history with. Family heirlooms, achievements, keepsakes are rubble.
“Physical representations of this entire existence leave a life experienced to the degradation of memory and time now.
“I have so much more to say but right now it’ll all be through the lens of this hopeless feeling.
“We’re trying to stay positive.
We’re trying to stay hopeful.
I’m trying to forget I ever wrote a song called it’s all gone but at the same time the little jokes help here and there.“This was genuinely a night without mercy.”
In response to the tragedy, a GoFundMe page was started with the intent of raising $100,000 to help Kiranos get back on his feet. According to the page, Kiranos spent the last four years investing into and building the house. And while he does have homeowner’s insurance that should help cover many costs, it won’t cover everything, hence the need for a crowdfunding effort.
In the days since its launch, the GoFundMe has already raised $98,000 from approximately 1,500 donations. It’s really a testament to the power of Kiranos’ art and the people he’s touched through music over the years.
If you have the capability, consider donating to Kiranos’ recovery. Every bit helps get an uncompromising artist back on his feet and doing what he loves.
