Premiere: Hated Tackle Their Inner Demons in Their New Single “Imposter”
We’ve all been there. You wake up one day, look around at your situation and think “man, I really hope people don’t realize how much of a fraud I am.” That nagging feeling of imposter syndrome is common and can be a nefarious issue if left to fester. It’s also subject of a killer track from Denver-based nu-deathcore outfit Hated, whose debut full-length album Death Effects will be released later this summer.
Featuring thick, chunky rhythms buffeted by sharp yet heavy guitar work and abyssal vocal stylings, “Imposter” is the kind of track that effectively serves as a shot across the bow to other bands out there. It’s effectively the band putting their hand on the throat of the scene, letting everyone know they’re here and ready to fuck some shit up.
According to the band, Death Effects “brings focus to the very real obstacles brought on by living a life of shame and regret, begging for common decency from the ones closest to you.” Themes of self-loathing, despair, and suicidal ideation play a big part in the record that they say was “set in the mood of ‘found footage’ on a cassette tape, one that tells the story of a nameless person that has suffered more than they can bear.”
You can check out the full track below. Just make sure you’ve got your volume turned up because this one should not be played quietly.
Hated’s Death Effects will be released on August 22 via Lost Future Records, but you can preorder your today.
