A Second British Official Wants to Get Another Marilyn Manson Show Canceled
Days after a member of the Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole (BCP) Council out in the U.K. openly began pushing to have an upcoming Marilyn Manson show canceled over the shock rocker’s past sexual assault allegations, another elected official is calling for a second show to get the axe.
According to a report by The Argus, a Green Party MP named Siân Berry expressed in an open letter to Brighton and Hove City Council Bella Sankey that she was concerned about Manson’s October 29 show at the Brighton Centre. In the letter, she outlined a number of factors that concerned her about the planned show, including the fact that the city plan states there’s “no place in our city for fear of crime, violence, or abuse” and that kids as young as 14 could attend.
Berry also argued that allowing Manson to move forward with the upcoming show would tell constituents that they weren’t concerned about the allegations that forced the shock rocker out of music for more than a year.
“Many survivors in Brighton and Hove, and organisations supporting them, will have very serious concerns about this booking and its impact on other people visiting the city centre, local residents and the wider community.
“Freedom of expression is an important principle that should be defended, including in relation to artists, but there is an obvious risk to community cohesion and the council has separate equalities obligations to foster good relations between people who share protected characteristics and people who do not share them.
“The council has a responsibility to take action where there are risks of discrimination, harassment and victimisation.
“The level and nature of the accusations against Warner are concerning enough alone, but so too is the message sent out by providing a platform for this individual, at our city’s biggest publicly owned venue, and what this will mean to survivors.”
You may recall that Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole (BCP) Council leader Millie Earl was first to sound the alarm against Manson’s upcoming U.K. and E.U. tour. In her warning, Earl suggested that the show be canceled to “reinforce the message that violence against women and girls isn’t something that’s acceptable in our community.”
Ever since 2021, allegations of sexual abuse and misconduct from more than a dozen have harried Mansfon. Most of the claims are disturbing in nature, with the allegations being first leveled against him by hisffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffmfff ffffultfiffmatefffly fbffeingfffuffntaffrffff wfffffffffffffffffffftfhffffdrawn ffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffsettledfffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffofffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffs court.
That being said, there are still a number of lawsuits ongoing that Manson’s camp still has to deal with.
