Sh*t That Comes Out Today: July 25, 2025
I know it’s already been a couple days, but losing Ozzy really did a number on me. It’s hard to move on, but that’s exactly what he’d want us to do. So in the spirit of the Ozzman, check out these new releases.
Alice Cooper
The Revenge Of Alice Cooper (earMUSIC)
Classic and iconic shock rocker Alice Cooper is back with his original bandmates to make one more album together. On its face, it’s a great little novelty to get a buncha old rockers together for one more release, but from what’s been put out there so far, it sounds like a very competent rock record. I surmise that it won’t have as much guts and grit as Cooper’s more recent efforts with the likes of Nita Strauss on guitar, but just as we witnessed with Black Sabbath earlier this month, sometimes you gotta get the old dogs together one more time to show the world how you got to the dance in the first place.

Bruce Dickinson
More Balls to Picasso (Duelist Enterprises Ltd./Sanctuary)
Originally released back in 1994, Balls To Picasso was Iron Maiden vocalist Bruce Dickinson’s sophomore solo effort that followed 1990’s Tattooed Millionaire. Though it wasn’t necessarily a critical standout, this record obviously meant a lot to Dickinson, who’s since gone on to “revisit” the release. Out today, More Balls To Picasso features some re-recorded bits and a full remix/remaster of the parts that he opted to keep, making this a weirdly satisfying Ship of Theseus scenario.

Cryptodira
Genesis Of Error (Silent Pendulum Records)
After covering two classic artists, it’s great to finally get back to some more modern metal with Cryptodira. This progressive death metal outfit is releasing just a three-track EP this time around, but what it lacks in breadth, it makes up for with complete tenacity. The band’s attack is punchy throughout, with each riff and time signature change a deliberate decision to ratchet up the aggression. We’ll have to wait and see what their next full-length album ends up being, but this is a good offering to tide us over.

Feuerschwanz
Knightclub (Napalm Records)
When we first covered this record, I dunked on their cover of Psy’s “Gangnam Style.” I wasn’t aware this was a thing with a capital “T” for this band, the whole covering some pop or dance song for an album. For that, I apologize because I misread the room. These guys are here to have a little fun with their power metal and I’m here for it. Go off, you buncha kooky Germans.

GWAR
The Return Of Gor Gor (Z2 Comics/Pit Records)
Our Lords and Masters return with a new slab of putrid, foul, and fetid noise for our earholes and we all must remember to thank them dearly for the privilege of being aurally accosted by our resident Scumdogs of the Universe. Sure, the band’s not been the same since the death of the mighty Oderus Urungus, but this latest offering still packs a pus-filled punch.
