Chat Pile and Hayden Pedigo Enter “Demon Time”

0

Roughly a month after we learned of the sort of rural desolation soundtrack that Chat Pile and Hayden Pedigo were going for in their upcoming collaborative release In The Earth Again, we’ve got another glimpse into their collective soundscape of general midwestern malaise with the song “Demon Time.”

With a title like that, you might anticipate some hyper fast shredding or maybe some super downtuned, dismal doom metal, but you’d be wrong. Luckily, Pedigo explains what’s going on in the track.

“This track feels like the gateway to the rest of the album. The calm before the storm. It might be my favorite track on the record just because it sets the tone so well. It’s eerie calm and you know something might be coming around the corner.”

As for the track itself, Chat Pile’s Raygun Busch ecxplains the sort of emotional rollercoaster that’s boiling just beneath the surface.

“Speaking to Yeats’ widening gyre, things are falling apart. Bad to worse or painful move towards something better is anyone’s guess, but we are living through a difficult time. The cycle continues forever, though. This is one of the first songs we recorded for the new record and is the wellspring from which the rest of the lyrical ideas flow.”

In The Earth Again will be released on October 31, but you can pre-order your copy today.
