The end of May in Toronto is going to get loud as hell, thanks to the return of the heavy music and arts festival Prepare The Ground. And so far, the lineup is already packed full of heavy hitters in its first wave of band announcements.

According to organizers, today’s announcement includes two sets — one acoustic and one electric — from Belgian doom outfit Amenra, a special set from Oranssi Pazuzu, and the first and last North American performance from the UK’s Svalbard.

Fans of Pallbearer will also want to make note of this festival, as that band will play the entirety of Foundations of Burden, while …And You Will Know Us By the Trail of Dead will play all of Source Tags & Codes to mark special anniversaries.

Rounding out the rest of the announcement are Minsk, Habak, Malevich, The Keening, Unholy Altar, and Wrekmeister Hamonies, who will be scoring their original film Flowers In The Spring.

Organizers say there will be plenty more announcements as we get closer to the event, so be sure to keep an eye out for more exciting additions.

Three day passes for Prepare the Ground 2026 are now on sale as well as a limited number of Under-19 passes at a reduced rate for the two venues that will admit those under the age of 19, including the legendary church venue Trinity St. Paul’s. Get yours today.
