Judas Priest’s Ian Hill Says They’ve “Got a Head Start” on Their Next Album

0

After the release of last year’s Invincible Shield, there was some serious question as to whether that would be Judas Priest‘s final album or not. The original band members are each in their mid-70s and the rigor of crafting a killer metal album and then touring on it have to be weighing on Rob Halford and the guys. Yet as it turns out, they’re not done. Not by a long shot, as they’re apparently going to work on a new record next year.

That little bit of information came out during a recent interview between Audio Ink Radio‘s Anne Erickson and Judas Priest bassist Ian Hill. During that chat (as transcribed by Blabbermouth), Hill said the band plans on hitting the studio next year, though he admited he didn’t know when it would be released.

“There’s plans to go back into the studio in the new year. So when it’ll be released, I don’t know. It’s a long process. We’re in no rush either, so it’ll be a while. But the recording is gonna happen, it looks like, next year.”

As for whether the band already had any tunes written for said new record, Hill said that the band has beung writing new material on each member’s own accord.

“I know Richie [Faulkner, Judas Priest guitarist] has. He’s got quite a few ideas together, yeah. So we’ve got a head start there.”

And don’t worry about whether the band will tour in support of this supposed new album or not. That question is moot.

“Well, that’ll happen as well. Obviously, if you have an album, you have to go out and tour with it. So, yeah, that’ll happen too.”
