Mayhem to Commemorate 25 Years of ‘Grand Declaration of War’ with Special Anniversary Edition

Once considered by Mayhem‘s Blasphemer as “a foundation, not only for me personally, but it also built a new foundation” for the band, their sophomore album Grand Declaration of War is getting some special treatment for its quarter century anniversary. And you can be one of the many to seek it out pretty soon.

Set to release on December 5 via Season of Mist, the 20th anniversary edition of Grand Declaration of War will for certain get fans riled up. No only featuring a copy of the album based on its original master, this commemorative edition will be packaged with a “sunburst colored gatefold LP [that] includes new silver hot foil packaging, a double-sided poster and an embroidered leather patch.”

Speaking of the album’s upcoming release, Season of Mist founder and manager Michael Berberian said the following:

“For Season of Mist, there was a before and an after Grand Declaration of War. This is probably the first true classic album we ever released, the one that put us on the map. And what an album. Talk about unexpected. Talk about daring.”
