Maybe, just maybe, the kids’ll be alright… okay that’s probably not true because of the unending hell that’s the present and will likely future. At least there’s music, but who knows how long we’ll actually have that since so many things are being taken out of schools. At least there’s Adopt the Arts, a nonprofit organization that’s trying to provide music education in underserved elementary schools. They’re hosting their “Sound & Vision Awards” honoring legends who’ve done big things in the industry from a talent and charitable perspective. This time around Geezer Butler (Black Sabbath) and Paul Rodgers (Bad Company, Free) are getting the acknowledgment.

Adopt The Arts: Sound & Vision Awards will see its cofounder Matt Sorum (ex-Guns N’ Roses, Velvet Revolver) performing, along with a mad crazy lineup of other influential musicians and figures. Corey Taylor (Slipknot), Glenn Hughes (Deep Purple), Lzzy Hale (Halestorm), Robert DeLeo (Stone Temple Pilots), Phil X (Bon Jovi), Billy Duffy (The Cult), Stevie Salas (Mick Jagger), and Nuno Bettencourt (Extreme) are also going to perform. Woweee!

The organization focuses on music education programs in Los Angeles and the Coachella Valley in California, providing education and creative chances at life for over 3,500 elementary school students. Back in 2019, Sorum said in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter how an old music teacher of his helped him realize how music was his purpose in life. “My high school teacher came to me when I was about 16 and I was in the jazz band,” he said. “He really gave me that inspiration that I needed in my life.” We all need someone like this in our life, for real.

Adopt the Arts is hosting its “Sound & Vision Awards” on Monday, March 2, 2026 at the Plaza Theatre in Palm Springs, California. You can get your tickets, of which proceeds go right back into funding local programs, by going here. If there’s any hope for the world, it’s in this, and we gotta make sure we support it.
