Gojira Actually Had Some Flying Whales Floating Through the Air as They Played “Flying Whales”

0

In what might be the coolest thing I’ve seen during a live performance in a long ass time, French progressive metal motherfuckers Gojira did the unthinkable. They bred a couple whales and taught them how to fly so they could take to the air during a live performance of the aptly titled song “Flying Whales” at the Accor Arena in Paris, France.

Now, I hope you know I’m kidding about the breeding whales for their own artistic gain part, since they’re staunch vegans and environmentalists, but they did have two fake whales flying over the crowd while the band performed in Paris over the weekend. The two big ass automatons were obviously being controlled by someone as they floated effortlessly over the crowd, likely filled with helium or something to keep it in the sky.

Regardless of how they did it, the effect is awesome. I can’t imagine being in the pit, completely unaware of what was happening above me, only to look up and see a giant floating whale during the band’s 2005 track. That’s some goosebumps-on-the-arms shit.

You can check out the fan-filmed footage, as well as an official clip on the band’s Instagram page.
