Overkill Has 10 Songs Written for Their Next Album

0

One of the best exports to come out of the Garden State is the thrash metal band Overkill. Dudes have been doing it for a long time and they continue to put out killer tunes even after all these years. And thanks to a recent interview between frontman Bobby “Blitz” Ellsworth and SLAM: Music Survival Guide (as transcribed by Blabbermouth), we know even more new music is on its way.

Now, it should come as no surprise that Overkill’s working on their follow up to 2023’s Scorched, but Ellsworth said the band’s got 10 new tracks already written. All they’re waiting on is bassist D.D. Verni to recover from recent shoulder surgery.

“We’re 10 songs deep at this point… It’s gonna be a full year. We’ve gotta, make sure D.D.’s happening to get all this stuff together. If not, I’m sure we’ll make it, and the studio will be fine.

“When [D.D.] does his other band [DD Verni & The Cadillac Band], it’s totally different than punching holes in the floor because he plays that bass as low as anyone ever in the history of metal. I mean, that shit sits right on shoe tops, and I think it’s probably one of the reasons he has a bad shoulder. But it’s gonna be business as usual. [There’ll] be a ton of new news coming out pretty soon. We’re 10 songs deep. I expect to be recording by January, and let’s see — let’s see what happens from there.”

As Ellsworth said, it sounds like it’s gonna be a while before we know more about their new album. Still, Overkill will be busy in the coming months when they go out on tour with Testament for the U.S. leg of the ‘Thrash Of The Titans’ tour that kicks off in March.
