Gaerea Rise From the Ashes of Betrayal with “Phoenix”
It’s been a minute since we heard from Portuguese black metal outfit Gaerea about their forthcoming album Loss, but that all changed this afternoon when they released their latest single “Phoenix.” With this new record being their first release under the Century Media umbrella when it comes out on March 20, Loss promises to be an important offering from the band.
As for the single, the band describe “Phoenix” as having to do less with the mythological creature and more to do with the strength of willpower.
“[‘Phoenix’] is a song about surviving betrayal and suffering, then using that pain as fuel to become stronger instead of letting it corrode you. Beaten down, scarred, and left in the dark, we rise again, break the chains, and reclaim control.”
