Ingested’s New Vocalist Seems to Be Josh Davies of Malice and Monasteries Fame

The sudden departure of Ingested frontman Jason Evans back in November shocked a lot of the metal world. Yesterday, the band deleted all the posts off their Instagram, including the announcement of Evans’ departure, and posted a single image with no caption of a hand holding a microphone, presumably indicating that the band has a new vocalist.

According to Lambgoat, fans did some detective work and matched the tattoos on the new vocalist’s hand to those of Josh Davies, vocalist of UK deathcore Malice and former vocalist of fellow UK deathcore band Monasteries.

Davies is seemingly quite beloved in the community already, as the comments on the post were flooded with people excited about the new vocalist…and one person who said they’d never listen to Ingested again, but otherwise lots of positives. A user with the name @adamthebastard wrote:

“If it is Josh from Malice…y’all are in for a TREAT”

Then @blackout_fg wrote:

“hell yeah, I’m sure josh will absolutely kill it”

One person made the laughable guess that it was Adam Warren from Oceano, who would have to travel overseas to join Ingested and also has a significantly different skin tone from the hand in the photograph.

Meanwhile, Reddit’s deathcore subreddit was filled with people who were equally excited, but did spark some conversation over whether Davies could handle Ingested vocals. One user suggested Malice has more complex vocal techniques, while another pointed out that Malice doesn’t demonstrate Davies lowest range and you have to listen to when he filled in for Vulvodynia to hear how suited he is for Ingested. Another user pointed out that you have to listen to Monasteries to really appreciate Davies’ full range. So, overall, it seems like Ingested found a really popular choice for their new vocalist.
