Alice In Chains Cancel May Shows Due to Drummer Sean Kinney’s Illness

Well, this is lame. Just one day after axing their Uncasville, Connecticut show at the Mohegan Sun Arena, Alice In Chains have had to nix the rest of their May shows due to health issues their drummer Sean Kinney’s health.

The band released the statement about the Kinney and the bad news:

“After careful consideration and following the advice of medical professionals, we have made the decision to cancel our upcoming festival performances and the ALICE IN CHAINS headline shows.

“While we were all eager to return to the stage, Sean’s health is our top priority at this moment.

“Although the issue requires immediate attention, his long-term prognosis is positive.

“We sincerely appreciate your understanding and support during this time.”

When they cancelled the Uncasville show on Thursday, they posted this on their social media how “Sean experienced a non-life-threatening medical emergency” after the band’s soundcheck earlier that evening.”

Exactly what Kinney’s illness is and how he’s recovering from it have yet to be revealed.

Alice In Chains was scheduled to play quite a few festivals this month. Today (May 11), they would’ve played at Sonic Temple in Columbus, Ohio and the Welcome To Rockville festival in Daytona Beach, Florida on May 16. As well, they had healing shows on May 13 in Nashville, Tennessee and another on May 15 in Dothan Alabama.

It is not yet known if Alice In Chains will still play Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne’s final show on July 5 in Birmingham, United Kingdom. Get well soon, Sean!
