John Bush Says Armored Saint’s New Album is Coming Next Year

0

We’ve known for a while now that Armored Saint‘s next album has been in the works. Hell, last month we got an update that they were entering the studio to work on the damn thing. And now, thanks to information from frontman John Bush, we know that the wait for new tunes from the iconic heavy metal act will extend into some time next year.

During a recent appearance on The Metal Voice, Neil Turbin spoke with fellow ex-Anthrax vocalist Bush at the Rock for Ronnie 2025 concert on Sunday, May 18 at Autry Museum in Griffith Park. The event was held to benefit the Ronnie James Dio Stand Up & Shout Cancer Fund, but it also served as a great backdrop for a conversation between two kick ass frontmen.

During their conversation, the topic of how busy Armored Saint has been in recent years, given their lengthy touring schedules. Bush said things have been pretty hectic and exciting recently, but with the way things have fallen schedule wise, they now have a timetable of sorts for the release of their next record.

“Well, we did a lot of work last year. We played with WASP, we did that run twice and then we did some shows with Queensryche a couple years back. We’re doing some dates in Britain with WASP which is going to be amazing, as we get to play at Hammersmith Odeon, which I’ve never done. It’ll be fun. And then we’re doing like 10 shows with Michael Schenker here on the West Coast into Texas and then we’re putting a record (new Armored Saint) record out next year. So new Saint record will come out next year.”

It’s true that Armored Saint has been busy as hell on the road as of late. When asked whether he’s done more shows now than he ever did with Anthrax, Bush said he’s only been able to really commit to so much touring now that his kids have gotten older.

“Well, I mean we did a lot. What happened was when I left Anthrax, I also had a daughter and so it was like to me it was synergy for me to stay home and help raise my kid and and take a break from being on the road all the time and I welcome that. And then after they grew up, now my daughter will be 21 this year, my son’s 18, and they just don’t care if I’m around. I shouldn’t say that of course they do, but my daughter’s in college in Ohio. She came to the show when we played in Columbus, which was killer right and her and a bunch of friends that kept the crowd going. So it’s all fine. It’s better to tour now as they’re older and I didn’t miss a lot of their life and that was important to me.”

So there you have it. New Armored Saint will be coming next year and we’re seeing more Bush (hehe) because his kids are older.

…Now what about that BushThrax tour we keep hearing rumblings about??
