Sh*t That Comes Out Today: August 1, 2025

0

It’s been a crazy emotional couple of weeks in the metal world. From Ozzy’s passing to whatever new outrage got people on the internet mad, it’s been a lot. My suggestion? Take the weekend to disconnect, find your center, and blast some new music. Next week’s a new week, man.

Car Bomb

Tiles Whisper Dreams (Solid Grey, LLC)

For the first time in six years, Car Bomb’s got some new music. And while it’s not a full-length release, this EP’s equal parts heavy and weird. When this was announced, guitarist Greg Kubacki said the band tried to “create our own style of heavy music by bending everything: the notes, time signatures, tempos, sonic quality of the guitars, etc.” I’d say they succeeded in that effort.

Crungus

Hollow (Wormholedeath Records)

Blackened doom death sounds like it would be an amalgam of sheer noise, but the Texas-fried quintet of Crungus deliver sheer brutality in their sophomore release. Having just signed with Wormholedeath last month, their overwhelming aural attack is almost too much. Yet when you pair the sound with their focus on themes of inner torment, societal decay, and existential dread, I think you’ll get where it’s all coming from.

Fit For A King

Lonely God (Solid State Records)

The eighth studio album from Fit For A King is still out here doing their thing. Featuring their take on the modern metalcore sound, this album’s got a lot to grab your attention from its 12 tracks. Add in the feature spots from Alpha Wolf, The Plot In You, and Chris Motionless from Motionless In White and you’ve got something that long-time fans should be stoked to check out.

Knosis

Genknosis (SharpTone Records)

The brainchild of multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Ryo Kinoshita, who’s probably more known as the ex-vocalist of Crystal Lake, this Japanese act is explosive as all get out. Seriously, this thing is absolutely fucking wild, from the furious blast beats and screams to the more melodic bits, what’s on offer here is musically interesting from start to finish. Definitely give this a shot if you like your music wild, frenetic, and unpredictable.

The Armed

The Future Is Here And Everything Needs To Be Destroyed (Sargent House)

Speaking of unpredictable, this Detroit-based experimental hardcore group has a fucking sax player. At least, there’s sometimes a sax player. You see, this group doesn’t really have set members, so much as it allows musicians to perform as the collective. The list of names for this record is kinda long, so I’ll have to ask you guys to look it up while you listen. Apparently this is about Weltschmerz, which is the German phrase for “the anguish of the world’s reality versus our idealized visions of what it should be.” So yeah, a real laugh riot/fun time.
