WHAT DO WE THINK OF FROM A SECOND STORY WINDOW?

Wednesday, June 4th, 2008 at 2:13pm by

From A Second Story Window are the latest in the burgeoning way-too-fucking-many-words-in-their-band-name-core scene. Yeah, there’s some metal here, there’s some core here, and they’re from where else, Massachusetts. But lest we not judge. Their new album Conversations just dropped on Black Market Activities and people seem to be talking about them a bit; go and have a listen to their new track “Self Admitted” on Black Market Activities’ MySpace page.

I think this falls in the “competently generic” category. What do you guys think?

I listened to their last album and found it to be pretty incoherent. I don’t think I ever made it through one of the “songs” on that album.

i love this band! ever since “the cassandra complex” ep and the “delenda” album if fucking fantastic. [i'll be honest, i have not heard the new record yet]… i was bummed to hear the day before a show last month that they dropped off the Divine Heresy tour…

and i MUST correct you on one thing, they are from Pittsburgh, PA. not Mass.

Well, it’s a better band name than “The Number Twelve Looks Like You,” I guess (can somebody please explain what the fuck that’s supposed to mean, anyway?).

Also, that album cover looks like an M. Knight Shamaylan (sp?) movie poster.

I really liked Not One Word Has Been Omitted, and then Delenda was definetly headed in a less interesting direction. So this new one is probably not something I’m going to be checking out, but you should check out some of their older stuff.

Yeah, ‘Not One Word Has Been Omitted’ had some decent stuff on it, and I remember seeing these guys a couple times back then– they have a LOT of energy. And there was always blood.

  • Tommy Leebowitz

I’m biased. I like them because I used to work with the lead singer and am very good friends with his older brother.

Their latest album is pretty good. It’s not the greatest thing ever, and it does get generic at times. I have to agree that they are great live, though.

Oh, and “The Number Twelve Looks Like You” got their name from an episode of The Twilight Zone.

  • ughhhhhh

This band is great. I don’t see where the generic element comes from. They have an interesting fusion of genre’s and their song structure is progressive and interesting. They don’t get stuck with too many breakdowns, or repetitive parts. They are different because they play a drop A guitar tuning while using chords that are not power chords to create mood. AMAZING live show. This album and band will grow on you.

  • The Pig In Zen

Um, I have mixed feelings about this band yadda yadda yadda, but it’s most important to note that these guys are from Ohio, not Massachusetts.

    And leave Massachusetts alone, fuckers!

I also have mixed feelings. On the one hand I think they suck. But on the other I think they blow.

  • Ross

Their old stuff is fucking boring and this new song is so pussified now.

  • anus

each album has had a few listenable songs

listenable… not mindblowing. After that it just fades from memory

  • johnny ringo

when they put out their first ep…man they were fucking INSANE!…their live show was untouched…their music was the heaviest most people had seen in a long time…and then they just kind of let all that go down the shitter…but the new album does not suck as bad as the last one did

  • eric

I have found the latest album to be pretty decent, its not a bad release and I think its pretty catchy.

The number 12 is supposed to look like a chick. It doesnt work well in this font but in some fonts the curve is supposed to be boobs and then it gets skinnier for the “waist”. It’s fucking retarded.
