Amon Amarth have a new album on the way September 30th called Twilight of the Thunder God (via Metal Blade), and they’ve just posted the title-track from that album on their MySpace page! It contains all the epic glory you’ve come to expect from Amon; if the MySpace music player had hair and was able to do windmills, you’d bet your ass it’d be doing them furiously along to this song.

Which reminds us — the clock is ticking down for you to submit entries to our epic Amon Amarth Viking Video Contest. MetalSucks, Metal Injection and Metal Blade Records are teaming up to give you an awesome Amon Amarth prize package (like, their entire discography), in celebration of the release of the new album. Upload your own Viking-inspired video and win big!

The song is amazing, and the cover art is too. That video wasn’t the best, but judging by all the others I’ve seen, it might win.

I couldn’t wait for this album before, but now after hearing this song the wait is going to be painful. This is awesome.

Hail the Northmen! That was a triumphant first taste of the new album, and I’m sure the rest will be just as crushing. Although that guest guitar solo threw me for a loop, kinda like when I first heard Andy LaRoque’s solo on At the Gate’s “Cold.” I was wondering when the hell those guys got so good at lead guitar…oh well.

    Dammit, Gates’ not Gate’s.

I really, really, really cannot stand this band.
