TRENT REZNOR: STILL COOLER THAN YOU

Monday, November 3rd, 2008 at 3:06pm by

The following e-mail was sent out to all Nine Inch Nails fans on their mailing list last night. I’m just gonna go ahead and re-print it in its entirety:

Next Tuesday we will elect the next President of the United States. The result will have great consequences for the nation.

This election offers a choice is between two men with dramatically different visions of the future. We have strong feelings about this choice. But we feel even more strongly that all Americans, regardless of political preference, have a stake in the outcome and should vote in this critical election.

This is likely to be a close election. Your vote matters. Please use it and make a difference.

Sincerely,
Trent Reznor

What a classy way to encourage his fans to get off their ass and do something. Notice he never endorses a specific candidate, and even goes out of his way to use the phrase “regardless of political preference.”

I keep waiting for Reznor to do something douchey, but he never does…

“PS: …Unless don’t live in a swing state, then your vote doesn’t matter.”

  • DJM

Your vote still matters in local and state elections, so vote anyway, swing state resident or not.

    @Axl

I know what you mean man. He seems like the kinda guy that should just sweat douchery, but alas, he’s just a guy that makes great music to get fucked up and enjoy. You gotta respect someone who sticks it to the man in such a subtle, yet attention getting manor.

    ——-

Fuck anyone who bitches about everything in this country but doesn’t vote. If you don’t vote, keep your mouth shut.

  • doucheymcdouchebag

how radically different are the candidates? seriously?

point to Reznor for not becoming propaganda like every other artist/musician in this country making “music for Obama”…..

  • lern2swim

So does this mean that you are admitting that you guys have been “douchy” in regards to your one sided political statements?

  • Sammy

In my state, Washington, the last gubernatorial election was decided by 129 votes out of three million cast. So here, yes, it did matter. And we have the same two candidates this time, and they truly despise each other.

In my particular county (all votes are by mail in this state) the voter turnout is expected to be 85%!

    Trent Reznor says: Vote McCain.

If McCain wins I’m growing nine inch nails so I can gouge out my own eyes. A president McDouch and VP Dumbass will be the true death of America that our enemies have shouted about.

there are absolutely no radically different views on anything between these two douchebags. its big government at home versus big government abroad. either way you foot the bill, you lose more privacy, and you lose more liberty. these are the issues that matter, and these are the issues you will never, ever, see a presidential candidate from either of the two major parties address. if youre not voting third party youre not making a difference, and fuck you if you call it throwing away a vote. voting for the lesser of two evils every time just ensures there will always be evil in the oval office.

with that said, im sure reznor said it with the best of intentions, and he does seem like a damn cool guy.

  • The Metal Nerd

As a man who spent eight years as a menber of The Peoples Party ive come to see the evil and mockery of freedom & democracy that the two party system is. That being said, I voted early on Monday (California), and I voted for Senator Obama. Im a regesterd Independant. Why did I vote for him? I see in Obama much as the same most did in JFK. The capacitiy to really turn things for the better in America, and help to begin to improve life for us overall. Do not mistake this as more hope and change rhetoric. Simply more of an open-ended prediction/comparison. Only togeather can we sway the course of history. VOTE.

  • Carter

I think trent should stick to making music.

Voting is a waste of fuckign time anyway.. electoral college anyone?
the campaign/election system in this country is beyond fucked up.

  • NoThanks

“I keep waiting for Reznor to do something douchey, but he never does…”

I would have to respectfully disagree, as he keeps making that douchey music. Awww, Mommy didn’t love meeeeeee….

    haha!

  • lern2swim

Metal Nerd, I’ll simply say that we’ll have to agree to disagree

Nothanks, it’s a scientific fact that any person who does not like NIN takes huge elephant cock in their poop shoot on a regularly scheduled basis.

  • Trent Reznor, almost as gay as the author of this article

Trent Reznor started NIN. If that isn’t “douchey” enough for you, I don’t know what the fuck is. What a giant pimple on the face of music.
