MIKE PATTON WILL SCORE CRANK 2: HIGH VOLTAGE

Every bone in my body tells me I should hate Crank, the Jason Statham action comedy that’s basically Speed with a person in place of a bus (Plot: if the dude’s adrenaline falls below a certain level, he’ll die.). But against my better judgement (and a cameo by – ugh - Chester Bennington), I found the flick endlessly entertaining. Fucking Amy Smart in the middle of a crowd of Asian tourists to get the heart pumping? If that’s not the definition of “high comedy,” then I don’t know what is.
Crank 2: High Voltage – which will somehow see Statham’s character returning for another adventure, despite the fact that he died at the end of Crank – will hit theaters in ‘09, and now comes the news that none other than Mike Patton will score the film. As if the news that Corey Haim is gonna be in the movie didn’t already have you excited!
I actually think Patton is a perfect fit, tonally speak – Crank had a real “anything goes” attitude to it, and if that doesn’t describe Patton’s music as well, then I don’t know what does.

Perhaps he didn’t die?
i thought i’d hate crank too, but unlike far too many films these days it was ridiculously fun and didn’t take itself seriously at all, so it’s okay in my book…
This is fab news! Jason Statham is my personal hero (not joking), and Patton ownz.
I loved Crank. It was very much the videogame-as-movie premise that made Run Lola Run so unique, but it was stripped of art house sheen and recast as a fantastic B-movie! With that in mind, it doesn’t matter than Statham’s character died in the first flick, because as any of us who grew up in the Nintendo generation already know, you get a minimum of three lives in any game worth playing!
If I recall correctly, right at the end of the movie when it’s a close up of his face you see him blink.
yeah maybe Jason’s character was magical or something. I’d like to see how he gets out of a 40,000 altitude freefall. or maybe it’s a prequel? that would make more sense.
Anyways i can see hollywood squares or any other patton-fronted DEP song fitting in well with the fast-paced insanity that the original film was known for.
and did anyone here see Transporter 3??? just saw it on monday. IT SUCKED! ASS!
yeah at the end of crank you do see him blink…
as for that perticular film…I thought it was aweful, so so bad.
tho ill probably give crank 2 a chance because i am a jason statham fan
I really hope that Patton’s score is similar to his solo album Adult Themes For Voice. It would be awesome to see a full fledged action scene, bodies dropping, bullets being loosed, pigeons flying in slow motion, and have heavily processed high speed chipmunk gibberish playing in the backgroud as opposed to an aria or 808 State.
My wife says Crank is great and it’s in the netflix queue but Jason Statham is kind of a dud. I can’t even stay awake through the Transporter movies.
After seeing Crank I got all sorts of ideas about what I would do to Amy Smart on/near a mail box. :)
I give myself props rom not spanking one out to Amy Smart getting nailed in public. She is retardedly hot.I don’t know why, but she is.
Does he blink?Lame.I liked Crank up til the very end just because the fall was a dumb way to end it.But is was highly entertaining. And Jason Statham is the fucking man.
Mike Patton is a good actor too. Check out “Firecracker”.
Awesome. Crank was one of the few tolerable non-Guy Richie (Revolver excluded) Statham vehicles. Hope this movie is as good.
I love how one of the tags is Asian tourists
I’ve never given this a try, but I think it’s about time I do.
