LIMEWIRE VS. DOVECOTE RECORDS; MUSIC THIEVES VS. PIZZA THIEVES

Not quite as interesting as the brouhaha that unfolded betwixt Dillinger Escape Plan guitarist Ben Weinman and Disturbed guitarist Dan Donegan last year, but chuckle-inducing nonetheless: Digital Music News reports that a funny tiff involving pizza-stealing and beer-splashing unfolded between P2P application company Limewire and Dovecote Records (whose metal offshot Deathcote records has such MetalSucks-approved acts as Brother Von Doom and Don the Reader) at a party hosted by the former last week.
To make a very long blog short, Dovecote members accidentally grabbed some pizza at a New York bar, thinking the food was free. A LimeWire employee reported yelled at these individuals, excoriating them for stealing. After learning that the party was hosted by LimeWire, the Dovecote crew was shocked at the hypocrisy. One Dovecote member grabbed an entire box and dashed for the door, only to get doused by beer on the way out.
Read more about the hilarious conversational exchange on Dovecote’s blog. Massive LOLz. Kudos to the Dovecote crew for being awesome!

Irony = metal
That’s hilarious! I love how P2P places put software out but claim they don’t have control over what people share on it. These folks shoudl be in politics.
Yes! “We just drilled out the lock of the front door of the electronics store. We can’t control who goes in through the door to steal the stereos.”
That is the best analogy I’ve heard.
Hmmm, my computer hasn’t had a virus in a while, lemme fire up Limewire! Does anyone still use this POS?
he should have jacked off on the pizza, and given them a virus.
My favorite Limewire moment was when I downloaded the free version and every time I turned it on LW would harass me with an add to buy the “Pro” version for like $30 dollar or whatever the fuck it cost. Finally I got so pissed off at this add that I ran a search and downloaded Limewire Pro…. FROM LIMEWIRE. So I basically used LW to steal LW. Fucking morons.
I’m going to download a pizza from Limewire just to spite them.
I definatley got LW Pro from LW Lite… But they eventually won and gave my laptop the Blue Screen of Death. Bastards.
Ok, I read the article and those Limewire people sound like they suck. But the biggest question I had was, “What kind of fairy ass hat takes a lap-top to a bar.” Seriously, though, what the fuck are you doing with a lap top in a bar? Isn’t the purpose of a bar to socialize with people and get drunker than snot? I guess maybe that fella had a raid planned with is WOW buddies.
Although the story claims not to be be anti-downloading for fear of the wrath of the internet generation, it still brings up the issue. I think that over time silly articles like this will shift public opinion and eventually music will be taken seriously as a commodity.
I don’t care about the downloading issue, but I do hate limewire and hypocritically bastards. Mostly, its a shitty product. I spend way too much time fixing issues created by limewire ranging from viruses to the infamous blue screen of death.
Also there are ways to control the files in p2p networking like that, but seeing as how cheap they as demonstrated by this article. Its rather complex and way more than they can ever hope to do with their product.
Ive been using limewire for about 4 years (though less often now) and have never gotten a virus from it. ever. i guess its just about knowing which files not to download before you actually do it, since some are displayed differently than others.
Ive never used limewire, but i know that google is much easier and much faster for downloading albums, and there ftp not p2p so its way faster.
i’ve always stuck to soulseek for my music downloads. about all limewire’s ever been good for is attempting to download a shitty cam copy of a new movie, having it take all day regardless of my connection, and getting Big Wet Asses Volume whatever instead.
I haven’t downloaded an album in 3 years, but I always used Bittorrent.
