gojira live in new yorkRemember that time in 2009 we went on and on about how amazing Gojira were when we saw them in New York City? Oh yeah, that’s right… that happened twice because we got two Gojira headline shows this year. Both were something slightly more than orgasmic, and our heads (along with our testicles) nearly exploded in sheer elation.

At the first Gojira headline show way back in May (read Axl’s review), we had photographer Chetan Patel on hand snapping pics up front. He did a great job capturing Gojira’s epic performance and got some good shots of openers The Chariot as well. His pics, after the jump.

Good memmories. I was at the Gramercy in May and it was great. If the guy who found and returned my wallet happens to post here I want to thank him.

Dude, my friend lost his wallet full of cash at the Gojira headline show in Seattle. He checked the lost and found, actually found his wallet there with cash and everything else still intact. WTF.

      Metal camaraderie FTW.

I was at that show. Wish I could say I was the Good Samaritan who returned that wallet. But all I did was enjoy the hell out of one of the best shows I’ve ever seen. Always great to read a new Gojira post, even if about shows across the country 7 months ago.

Funny thing was there was this guy standing outside of the line to get in in front of everyone
and we all commented amongst ourselves that he looked like Silent Bob. I can be a little bit
of an asshole so I actually told him that later on that night. Not in a malicious way, I was
hoping he’d find it funny too. He actually didn’t. Anyways I buy one of those seven dollar
beers, go back to my spot, only to have someone knock my beer out of my hands. I think
I lost the wallet sometime after that.

Later as I was walking through downtown Manhattan back to my car I realize the wallet is
gone. I would not be able to claim the car in the forty dollar parking space a block away.
Not to mention my credit cards, license, health insurance cards etc….all gone. It started
to fucking rain. The only thing to do was walk back to the Gramercy and hope to God I was
lucky. I go a couple blocks….out of the thousands of people walking on the streets in this
five block radius who do I see? Silent Bob walking towards me.

On a whim I say to him, “I lost my wallet! Fuck!” He gets this grin on his face and
exchanges a look with his friend. He then pulls my wallet from his pocket and hands
it to me! I never felt so happy and so much like a douche lol.

i wish they would stop ignoring us drummers and give us some good pics instead of just focusing on the guitarists

      You are always saying that.
If you don’t have the right equipment (lens) it is nearly impossible to reach the drummer, especially on large stages.
sometimes it happens, sometimes it doesn’t.
      quick taking it personally,
do you need me to call the wah-mbulance?

    photos could be better, IMO

I have to say Gojira has to be the best live band of 2009 with no question.
