ok, me and my girlfriend went to go see this tour in hollywood on sunday, it was pouring rain, and hollywood wasnt designed to deal with rain, its hard to even see if your in the right lane when its raining and dark on sunset blvd. anyways after passing up the venue because of not being able to see it, we finally found it, and found out that the only parking available was where we had to pay 10 dollars to park, so we park, and ofcourse, because were seeing cynic and btbam, we smoked a ton of weed, so were really high and we get out into the misting rain to stand in line to get tickets and get in. walking in the line we realize that this line goes all the way down the street and up this hill. anyways, we stand in line and ofcourse instead of it just misting it starts absolutely pouring down, in any normal situation we would have left and not even have waited in line anymore, but this is cynic and btbam, so we wait in line with all the rest of the people. half an hour goes by, and we finally get to the front of the line, were about to aproach the window to get tickets and ofcourse, right when were like 3 people away from the counter to purchase, the guy yells out “SOLD OUT!!!!” we asked him are there any left? we just waited in the rain for half an hour, ofcourse he says nothing left, so were left to walk back to the car, which we just paid ten dollars to park for half an hour, now we have to drive home (about a 20-25 min drive) in the pouring ass rain where you cant really see the lines that well in dumbass hollywood, on the freeway, and i am seriously super duper high, obviously my experiance was not fun at all. i didnt think that a btbam cynic show would sell out on a sunday when its raining. overall id just like to say how upset i am that i didnt get to see cynic, i missed them when they came through with meshuggah and faceless, and now i missed them with scale the summit, and btbam playing the house of blues, probably one of the better venues to see them at. SOME BULLSHIT!!!

    • hackman

i also went to the show in hollywood sunday but was 21st century enough to purchase tickets on line well in advance. BTBAM headlining with scale the summit and cynic is simply unmissable. as for the show, it was incredible. scale the summit was very impressive, dev had the crowd confused/mezmerized, and BTBAM was…well……I think they’re simply the best band in the world…behind maybe Tool and Opeth but they’re not far back. The fuckin energy in that place was off the charts. I’ve seen a dozen metal shows there and this by far had the craziest crowd. And I’d take BTBAM fans against almost any other as to being the most rabid fans. Everybody sang along. Two minutes into “Ants of the Sky” when Tommy plays that little piano part by himself, he hit a wrong note and you heard a collective groan throughout the pit. It was cool that EVERYONE seemed to know the exact chord that was to be played and shows how much people, including myself, love this band. I’ll see em anywhere for however much as long as they get to play that long…..sorry for rubbin it in dude :)

      • Saul

i bought tix to this show the minute they went on sale in october. ya when tommy hit that wrong chord you could hear everyone just go, ooooooo! that was a damn good show tho! i got to meet dusty after the show! i shook his hand twice and got my tic signed by him!!!

  • joeydiphard

lookin for 2 tix to the NYC show if anyone can help me out.

    • brian roach

wait, is NYC sold out as well? crap! i knew i waited to long to get tix!

    • Master Chah

Heh. I’ll bootleg some for you.

  • iceman

dammit im from knoxville but im not there at the moment because i am away at college. fuckin education…

  • http://myspace.com/obeydarklord mr_Izan

“tell us why you get this awesome prize package in our comments section below. ”

“uhhh i get it, because it’s awesome, and there’s nothing else to get?”

  • I killed a Dunky

the benthic come to the Dominican Republik here u will get to see Rita Indiana AND Toque Profundo :P

  • Judas Goat

I should win Cause when this show was in Atlanta I was iced in my dumb ass small town. As you all read in Eyals post it was fucking end of the world chaos all around town but it was worse the further out of the city you went. Ready for the kicker I had tickets to show already!!!!!!! So I had tickets and couldnt get down to the city because we dont have the abilty to salt roads in buttfuck Ga. This is why I should win. Oh and cause Scion Rock Fest got moved to fucking Ohio.

  • Larry Crowell

I should win ’cause my favorite thing to do is to take in the excellent Knoxville music scene, and cover it with writing and live-action photos in my newsletter the “Cool-shit Hot-line”. Between The Buried And Me would be a great show to cover.

  • The_Deeg

I should get this, because ever since I made a deal with the devil to help me graduate from The University of Tennessee I have been cursed and have had all kinds of crap happen to me (Thanks Pat Robertson). As an example, when the show happened in Atlanta, where I now reside, this Satan curse (in a ironic twist) sent all kinds of crazy ice around Atlanta and prevented me from attending. So help a cursed fan out and let me rock the shit out in the K-hole.

p.s.- Oh, and I’m also metal as fuck.

  • corey borger

Well, I live in Knoxville, TN? Whenever Opeth came to The Bijou with Enslaved, I got fucked out of going. I was standing in front of the theatre the day of the show, but couldn’t go cause i had no money. It looks like this might be the same scenario. BTBAM gives me such a Don Ready and it would be a shame for me to get pooped on once again by the so called God that’s supposed to fondle our ever so sensitive gentiles with strawberry milkshakes and sensual oils. Nice job dick handler. But anyways, I also missed out on BTBAM when they came to The Valarium and their Rockettown performance that was their Colors Live album recording. I was supposed to go to both, but i have shitty friends that guarantee me a ride and then proceeds to bend me over, pull down my pants and then take their ginormous cocks and rape my dignity. So I think the only way I can see BTBAM is if I win tickets in a contest. If i do, I will fucking walk!

    • Joey

I’ll be honest I really need to win.

Not just because I want to meet the band.

But because I am currently without any clothing.

So a shirt and a hoodie would be the bee’s knees.

Oh and I want to see Cynic.

To help with the decision making process I have included a pie chart to thoroughly illustrate my point.

Well you see, I live on this mountain in western North Carolina, with a very small population. Most of that population is dirty fucking granola crunching hippies, so I think you need to give me an experience that doesn’t involve talking about organic food or the collective stream of consciousness. The drive is also only 3 hours or so. Save me from the vegans.

  • Mr. Sandwich

You should totally hook up the Sandwich with this shit. BTBAM should be experienced in a venue like this on every tour. Their music is far more superior than some of the shitty clubs they play in night after night. Not to mention the shitty sound equipment most clubs and bars have. Experiencing BTBAM at a venue like this is truely the ultimate orgasm. Throw in Cynic, Devin and Scale the Summit and you have arching shots of jizz coming (and I mean coming) in and out of the eagerly waiting ear pussies of every fan there. You talk about album releases in 2010 that will fuck your face off? How about the Ultimate fuck your face off show? Cause this has got to be it. And I can’t imagine being anymore satisfied with having my face fucked off of my head than having it fucked off at this show.

  • http://www.reeelapse.com Sean Dennis

because first off i live in knoxville.

second off, i’m gonna be the only motherfucker there in a last days of humanity shirt.

    i am metal incarnate.

  • Ajax

I live in the Knoxville area and I’d like to get this as a gift for a friend. He’s been putting up with my shit for a long while now. He’s one of the few true friends I even have left. He’s a huge, huge, HUGE BTBAM fan and I’d like to give him something to remember me by before I leave. I leave for basic training for the Army on March 8th and he was going to buy me a ticket as a going away present. Well, I’d like to do him one better and show him how greatfully appreciative I am to know that he’s got my back. Not to be gay or anything, but he’s helped me with bouts of depression, women, and me being a general fuck up. And he supports my decision in joining the Army and it’s sad to say that that’s hard to come by now-a-days. I know that this would absolutely make his day/week..Probably even year, if not the rest of his life. And I’d like to be remembered as that guy who got him the hook up to meet one of his favorite bands ever.

Fuck, this makes us sound gay….I promise we’re not. LMAO! He’s just a cool dude and has helped me through trying times. Would just be cool to say I gave him a lasting memory.

  • Zig

I want to fuel the silent rage of all the bearded hipsters and gauged-out teens as they watch a 6’2 black guy
in a gap sweater shoot the shit with their favorite band.

Also I want to play Paul’s guitar tattoo.

  • Greg Miller

My son started playing guitar at 11. He is now 19, and a huge BTBAM and Scale the Summit fan. We have had a great time traveling around the region to get to see great metal, this show, with some of his and my favorite bands, is literally minutes from the house. We will be there one way or another. The kicker: My son needs guidance as he pursues his own music career (he is a full time musician, having dropped out of school with our support to pursue a career he will love). Meeting the musicians will give him the chance to learn from people who have made it, and this will be invaluable.
    See ya’ll at the show!

  • Fixation

As with most of the people who reside in and around Atlanta, the ice and shit totally screwed my plans to go see this show the first time around; however, I think I deserve these tickets just as much, if not more, than anyone else.

As soon as the word of this show was posted on metalsucks, around November, I went nuts. I have been into BTBAM since 2003. BTBAM are from my home state, North Carolina, and my old band actually opened for them a few years ago. I remember seeing Dusty in the crowd and I almost lost my shit. I was too embarrassed to even talk to any of the BTBAM dudes after the show. I would like the chance to actually conversate with Tommy, Paul, Dusty, Dan, and Blake, and not feel like a retard. Not to mention, hear the new album live.

If BTBAM isn’t enough, Hevy Devy himself making his first rounds of the country in 3 years. I saw him with STY back in 05′ and I was amazed. How could someone talk so much shit to the crowd and still be loved by everyone there? Though his stage demeanor has changed, Devin still has and awesome stage presence. Anyway, I think I have listened to “Addicted” and “Ki” a hundred times each. Each are phenomenal and emotionally moving albums. I really want to experience it live. Plus, I would kill for the chance to hear anything from Ziltoid live…

On top of all that, my car has no heat and it’s finally back to 60 degree winter in Ga. Ha Cha Cha!

  • Corey

I believe I deserve the prize package because I, not only live in Knoxville, but I am taking a friend to their first metal show ever. They love BTBAM and believe that they are the best band to ever grace this world. They would love nothing more than to meet them. =]

  • James (Gava Fran Trulen?)

    Preface:

A messiah like tour has finally arrived in this blighted metal starved land. Truly the Old Norse gods have smiled upon us; either that, or this show heralds some sort of apocalyptic trigger that will melt the faces of the audience (Raiders of the Lost Ark style) at the Bijou. While our friends in BTBAM do not hail from the cold, dead, North, they still evoke that primal sense of brutality that is the essence of contemporary (arguably progressive) black metal. Between you and me, I must say that BTBAM outperformed In Flames a couple of months back. Barring BTBAM’s recent concert, I have not seen such awesome music fall on Knoxville since the great Opeth and Enslaved viking invasion of 2008. I still remember stumbling out of that concert and experiencing massive failure after being called upon in class the next day to lead discussion in readings. I’ll do it again though, baby.

    Distinguished:

Unlike other posters who try to bust into whatever is left of your heart with tales of children and military experience, I offer only a genuine love and knowledge of heavy metal. I derive most of my taste from the cold, barren, North in the form Norwegian black metal and Swedish death metal. BTBAM has implemented this style in a manner that is rarely seen on these shores. Most importantly, I want to shake Tommy’s hand and thank him for shutting up every single critic of keys in metal through his music. His vocals and keys drown out the elitism of purists of the genre who would have us recording on 8-tracks in the middle of the forest, using only a rusted 92 Fender purchased at a local flea market. Tommy is the consummate example of how keyboard parts and innovation push the boundaries of sub-genres in metal.

    Qualifications:

I bleed metal. I am pursuing a graduate degree in one of the most conservative fields known to man but retain (publicly) a love for metal. Does it help that I’ve gone in full corpse paint to UT graduate school functions, circa 1990′s Immortal style? How about that time at age 15 when I presented a formal paper in an inner-city school about the decline of popular music, importance of metal, and contribution Devin Townsend has made to progressive metal? Or that time when I was so drunk that I sung Helloween’s entire “Keeper of the Seven Keys” album(s) at full volume in public bars? I must confess that I am a devote follower of Devin. I remember the first time I heard Ocean Machine in high school and proceeded to listen through the album during every class for the next two weeks. Almost was suspended. Those were the days.

    Bonuses for the Band:

I come bearing hot chicks from my graduate studies program at UT. Hot, well educated, chicks who will be dying to meet fabled metal musicians. What else could these fine upstanding gentlemen want?

    Oh, Devin…:

Devin Townsend shares a spot with Mikael Akerfeldt as my favorite musician of all time. From the first time I heard Ocean Machine at age 13, I was hooked on just about every album that came out of Heavy Devy’s studios. As a bald man, I feel that I share an innate empathetic link to Infinity-era Devin (which has been reborn following Ki). But seriously, Devin is such a musical inspiration.

    In Closing:

Help me overcome my post Dimmu-Borgir collapse depression (or convince Vortex and Hellhammer to reform Arcturus). This would be a dream come true. At the very least – if you grant me these tickets, I won’t be tempted to tell Ziltoid that you have horded the last cups of fine Colombian coffee.

    • James (Gava Fran Trulen?)

Oh, by the way, don’t make me send Burzum about a site about how Metalsucks has inevitably misinterpreted the “true meaning” of his work. We all know he’s out of prison and the consequences could be severe, lol.

Sarcasm over the internet is so much fun.

      – Peace.

      • Ajax

Opeth and Enslaved came last year in May, not in 08. If you’re claiming that was the only good show to come through Knoxville in the last few years you apparently missed out on the Gojira/Burst show at the Ciderhouse where they played for maybe 150 people. It was such a close and personal atmosphere that you could feel the intensity throughout the building. I got to talk with Joe after Gojira played and shake his sweat-laden hand after he absolutely ripped apart the drums. I got to hang out with Burst again and asked how their tour was going and if it had gotten better since the Asheville festival. There have been a string of awesome shows that have come through Knoxville, like the Chimaira/Suffocation. You must be too busy studying and fapping to black metal to get out and notice.

Also, I never claimed to have military experience. And this isn’t a “I swing the biggest metal dick” contest either, so you spitting out band names just to make yourself seem legit is kind of stupid. RAWR RAWR TEH COLD, BARREN NORTH! TEH COLD, DEAD NORTH! I ARE TEH METALIZT EVRAR! This might disparage my chances of winning, but fuck. You’re retarded

        • James (Gava Fran Trulen?)

Lease Metal Thing of All Time:

Going apeshit on fellow lovers of metal for little to no reason on a thread about getting backstage passes.

You are forgiven for your transgression.

          • Ajax

I’m sorry, I didn’t see rules posted above for calling out others. All is fair in love and war, and winning tickets is definitely a battle. You bringing me up in your comment fueled the fire seeing as how I’m the only one who talked about going into the military.

  • http://www.facebook.com/people/Brandon-Forde/666126214 Brandon Forde

Me and my friend went. Amazing, Whoever mixed BTBAM should be killed. Couldn’t here the keys clean vocals very well. Devin Townsend has amazing stage presence.

you should pick me because it would be like the best thing EVER and it would make my buds super jealous.
    so, pick me. ya.

I’ve already won tickets to this concert through killertourz.com, which I freaked the fuck out about, but I think two more tickets will help me introduce more people to the live experience of this band. I’ve seen them in nashville once on this tour and am pumped for this show soooooo much.
I am the ultimate between the buried and me fan, and I will prove it.

If that's not enough, I'm driving 7 hours to see them, and I've waited so long to meet them. I've been to 3 shows in the past year or so. This fourth will be orgasmic, I've driven a minimum of 2 hours to see them, but 2 of them times have been 6+ hours. I literally devote my life to their music, their albums never leave my cd players.
I have all of their vinyls as well ;]. Dustie's seen my backpiece and told me he appreciated it, that was a highpoint in my life to be honest.
Call it pathetic but I live due to their music, and I need to meet them. It literally keeps me going. They are what got me influenced to go straight edge which improved my life so much, and keep me playing guitar.

This quite literally would make me die happy were I to die right after the show.

By the way my email is james.rice@smail.astate.edu, it won't let me log out of my facebook account.
    Please metalsucks, I need this.

    • http://www.facebook.com/people/James-Sterling-Rice/1030080162 James Sterling Rice

I also was inspired to go vegan due to them.

Winning this would be a sweet relief by the way, and I hear that’s a must.

  • Lindsey

I should win because I am most likely the only female entering this contest. Life is hard as a woman, with being in the kitchen and whatnot and meeting the incredibly members BTBAM, including my personal fav MR. D. BRIGGS, would just be down right awesome. Ive been to a few btbam shows, this one will be my fourth, I plan on attending whether I win or not, even though its a 7hr drive. My first btbam show was in nashville at the valarium, and after my friend and I drove 7hrs from a podunk Arkansas town we then sat outside the venue and listened to the communication between some metalheads who recently crawled out of the primordial ooze. Nashville you owe me.

I am a woman, society has shunned me, are you going to shun me as well metalsucks? Et tu, Metalsucks, et tu?

    • Lindsey

Yea re-reading that…I meant STATE OF TENNESSEE YOU OWE ME, the bright lights and pungent smells of the kitchen distracted me for a second that…damn my lady brain making me do things WRONG WRONG WRONG, also I forgot to mention I have the great misdirect arrows tatted on my leg, jus’ sayin’

Heres a pic incase someone yells PICS OR DIDNT HAPPEN

      • Lauren

Pulling the woman card was a low move. Sorry. I’m a girl and I absolutely HATE when females use being a girl as a reason for the need to be treated like they are unique or something. It’s like with girls that think they are “special” because they play video games, and brag about it all the time. Society has not shunned you because you are a woman.

        • Lindsey

Im sorry Lauren that you cannot understand a joke when you read one, did you bother to read the rest of my entry? Go listen to manland

          • Lauren

I’m just used to girls being idiots these days. So, my apologies.

  • Lauren

My boyfriend and I are huge fans. Especially my boyfriend. We had huge plans to go see them earlier this year in Nashville at Rocketown. That is a very special place to us due to some sappy lovey dovey shit. Ha. Anyways, a few days before the show is car completely stopped working. Just out of no where. So, we were shit out of luck. When I found out we weren’t going to be able to go I was immediately upset, because I knew this was the show he’d been waiting for, and was 110% disappointed. Then to top it all off, the day of the show, a couple of friends of ours needed our help, so instead of getting to go to a very special show to us, we had to ride up to Johnson City, the streets covered in ice, and help them move in the snow. Now, I’m not sure if we’ll even have the money to go to this one, but I’m hoping so. I would absolutely adore being able to win this prize. My boyfriend would be friggen ecstatic, and seeing that would be enough for me to feel better about all the crap that’s happened to us money wise and such so far this year. We need a break. We live in Oak Ridge, so Knoxville is obviously much closer and cheaper to get to than Nashville.

  • Sean Lykins

Winning this contest would be the event of a lifetime. I live in Knoxville and could walk to the venue if I wanted! I am a true metal fan and this would be the perfect start to the new year. I have a wondefrful story to tell. Flash to the year 2004. I was putting on metal and punk shows at a venue in Charlotte NC. This ws completly D.I.Y with all of the door going to the bands. The headliner of an event I had called Punk Wars( you can goolge it or my name) was supposed to be headlined by BTBAM. This was in their early days on Lifeforce, but I was excited and the whole secne was buzzed about coming out. A week before the show I get an e-mail about their drummer leaving the band and they had to cancel last minute. This was such a heartbreak to me! I can walk to this venue in five minutes and it would mean so much to an old veteran to see them!

  • Travis Holloway

BTBAM are mediocre at best. I should win so I can explain to them directly how to improve their game.

  • Rebecca Like

I want to win this contest because I find Between the Buried and Me amazing to say the least. I’ve been to two of their shows, and would love to see a third. But unfortunately, since I am only a poor college student, I do not have the money to pay for tickets as well as travel money. But if I won this contest I would be able to see them for a third time. I’ve always wanted to meet the band, and I think this might be my only opportunity. Plus all of the extras are just cherries on top.

  • Lindsey

    I gotta know, who won?

  • Ajax

I would like to know as well. They didn’t post the winner yesterday so they must have forgotten? I don’t see how though since they’ve been plugging this tour like crazy.

  • Lindsey

I know I sent them an email at 8:30am asking them to post the winner, Ive just been going insane for the past day and a half
