THE OBLIGATORY PARADISE LOST POST

Longtime MS Maniac Ziv Frenkel describes British doom kings Paradise Lost thusly:

PL is one of those bands that has about 6 fans, but all 6 of em think they are the greatest band in history (yours truly among them). some of these cats must follow your site.

Though Ziv apologized for spamming us about Paradise Lost before, it’s true that we’ve barely given any e-ink to this tremendously influential band. And since Ziv thought you might like to know that Paradise Lost will be re-releasing their 1995 landmark album Draconian Times on special edition vinyl in July, he also thought it’d be a good time to post the video for the classic song “Lost Forever” from that album. Here ya go, Ziv (and the other 5 of you).

    “Forever Fauilure” not “Lost Forever”

    That’s a damn good album/song/band. It’s true, they should get more recognition on this site, I’ve been following them for years.

    I’ve only gotten into Paradise Lost in the past year or so but they’re great. I wasn’t too into them at first but their music slowly grows on you and definitely gets better with each repeat listen. I’ve mostly only listened to their past 3-4 albums but I’ve liked everything I’ve heard so far.

    Draconian Times was one of my favourite albums of my teenage years, and would probably be one of my Desert Island Discs.

    I’m one of the 5 as well, been with them since the early days.
    Their latest is a killer album, like a modern Draconian times.

      Strange, just watched the vid, the song has ‘more’ layed over the top, keyboards and the like compared to the version on my (original release) album, i guess this was a radio edit/version?

    I think the triple-punch of ‘Icon’, ‘Draconian Times’ and ‘One Second’ is a highlight of modern metal. Everything else either side of that gets a little wobbly at times.

    But yeah, Paradise Lost are a fucking great band.

    Love them – Greg M is one of my guitar heroes and I honestly think Faith Divides is one of their very best.
    If it’s any consolation, they’re pretty under-appreciated here in their home country too!

    Yeah they made an untimely cancel of their Australian tour due to having only one of those 6 (me) willing to front the money for a gig. Hence, the promotors decided to pull out. Mighty pissed was I.

    I am also a huge PL fan. Last year’s “Faith Divides Us, Death Unites Us” was excellent.

    Never checked them out until their latest album, but I’m glad I did. Amazing album. The previous 3 are pretty good too. Don’t really know any of their earlier stuff.
