TERROR “STICK TIGHT”

Wednesday, June 30th, 2010 at 4:00pm by

I’m not even really sure what the heck “Stick Tight” means. My mind immediately goes someplace sexual, but I doubt that’s what the new Terror song is about. (In an accompanying press release, vocalist Scott Vogel says “the lyrics are on the blog,” but I’m not sure which blog he means – it’s ain’t the band’s MySpace blog.)

But, whatever, y’know? Terror are one of the most skilled purveyors of metallicized hardcore out there these days, and this song made me kick a Mansion Monkey straight across the atrium as though he were a football and the fountain were the goal post, so it’s all good as far as I’m concerned.

“Stick Tight” will be on Terror’s new album, Keepers of the Faith, which comes out September 14 on Century Media.

    Stick Tight
    1. any of several plants having seeds tipped with barbs that may cling to fur or clothing.

For some reason I just can’t ever get into these guys. Too straightforward and not much unique personality in their music. You know a Sick of it All song right away without question…. Terror, on the other hand, could be mistaken for 100′s of bands.

“Terror, on the other hand, could be mistaken for 100’s of bands.”
Your right that the music is nothing groundbreaking, but I think part of this might be because upcoming HC vocalists have been aping Scott Vogel’s style since the 90′s
Full Disclosure: I loooved Despair, so I am probably a little biased.

      • stu1

Definitely and exactly what I was thinking.

      • GoingDeaf?

Probably true… for some reason Terror weren’t on my radar in the 90′s so maybe it’s the copycats that have ruined them for me since I didn’t hear Terror first… a result of growing up in pre-internet Maine I suppose.

That’s cool. You should check out Despair’s last EP(’98), Kill. It…well…it kills.
          It’s long out-of-print, but here’s a link to download:

Also Buried Alive was pretty killer.

Terror couldn’t have been on your radar in the 90s via not yet existing, but Scott Vogel sang in a couple of other great bands then.
What makes Terror better than many others are the lyrics, much like Hatebreed, only a bit more on the depressed side.

Sounds like every other hardcore song ever written. Hardcore is so boring. Glad I grew out of this shit when I was like 14.

    • stu1

Totally. Because it sounds identical to everything on the new Sick of it All, which sounds exactly like H20

      • djabthrash

saying SOIA sounds like H20 is like saying Slayer and Nevermore sound the same

        clean your ears buddy

        • stu1

Wow. Something just went TOTALLY over your head.

        • stu1

          You figure it out, yet?

          • djabthrash

            yes i did :)

i was tired, i didn’t figure the sarcasm out :)

Terror’s shining moment was Lowest Of The Low. Everything after that was meh. I’ll just listen to Merauder and mind my own business.

      • A2James

Lowest of the Low was a great album. One with the Underdogs was good too

  • Driven9

‘Sick TIght’ is also the name of a shitty 311 song

    the bass lines “stick tight”.

i was bobbing my head while the song was playing. that’s pretty much all i was hoping for. so, thumbs up duders

  • FongChung

Terrible song, terrible band, and Buried Alive was far better to Terror. Sorry this sounds just like a Madballbreedofitallbeforedishonorreignsupremeundericenayser song. Fucking simplistic, and no variation or anything that catches your mind.

    • stu1

Bunch of bands that don’t sound alike. Nice shootin, Tex.

  • jackattack

Terror: Because apparently one Earth Crisis wasn’t enough for the shitty tastes of hardcore fans everywhere.

One of the last hardcore bands that have a histroy and are amazing live… Yeah they may not be groundbreaking, but its hardcore we are talking about. There albums have only gotten better, and hopefully this onedoesnt disappoint!

Every metalhead in the world is facepalming all the time because ignorant outsiders say that metal all sounds the same.
Every metalhead in the world says that all Hardcore sounds the same.
Think about it for a minute, please.

Yeah, you have to love it when people who worship Slayer and/or Cannibal Corpse complain about hardcore all sounding alike.

  • FongChung

Generic awful band, pretending to be LA Gang Members ala Suicidal Tendencies. I wish Terror existed in the 80′s so Mike Muir could beat Scott Vogels ass.

    • stu1

Wow, another contribution to the “no fucking clue club.”

      • FongChung

“No fucking clue club” Huh? Okay genius, name me a few bands that haven’t tried this awful generic style before? I do have a clue about this band. They are unoriginal, awful tough guy mosh core garbage.
