WANNA HEAR SOME TEASERS FOR THE NEW BARONESS ALBUM?

Wednesday, May 25th, 2011 at 11:00am by

Here’s some sexcellent news: Baroness are currently working on the follow-up to one of my favorite releases of 2009, Blue Record, and they’ve already started posting some demos on their official website (scroll about halfway down the page to watch the videos/teasers). The not-great news is the band is still so early in their process (writing, etc.) and those teasers are so brief and seemingly incomplete that they don’t actually tell us that much about the new music, but presumably something more substantial will follow after the band enters the studio, which we’re told should be sometime this summer.

Go here to check this shit out… more news as we get it.

Thanks to Joe Caperon for the tip!

Pretty excited to get a better listen of some new stuff. Great band!!

No band makes me more excited for new music right now. Plus their gear pics are always welcome. I hope they tour the US soon, I need to catch a headlining set by them. They stole the damn show from Mastodon last year.

Couldn’t agree more, with BTBAM and Mastodon on the bill as well, these guys killed it and totally stole the show

There aren’t many bands I get more excited about hearing new music from than Baroness. Feels like Blue Record was forever ago. These teasers are pretty useless, but simply the fact that they’re in the studio is enough to get me going. Can’t wait for their next album.

Awesome… I saw them on their little headlining tour for Blue Record and it was one of the best shows I’ve ever seen.

  • Taintraker

This is a band worth getting excited about!

i bet they have a vault of guitar pedals that they swim in like scrooge mcduck

      Hahahahahahahaha!

I noticed they put up the official site the other day. From the pics it looks like they have plenty of amps to experiment with. Should be sweet!

  • A normal human like the rest of you

Never got into this band. I’ve never heard that one song to get me hooked or interested in them.

    • Bobtastic

A Horse Called Golgotha. Go. Now.

      • Captain Shoggoth

Wailing Wintry Wind, Wanderlust, Isak, War, Wisdom and Rhyme, Bullhead’s Lament, Jake Leg

I fucking love Baroness. Favorite band, hands down. They really can do no wrong musically, and live they’re incredible. I drove seven hours from Albuquerque to Denver to see them on their headlining tour and drove all the way back right after the show ended; totally worth the driving through thick ass fog, running out of gas, and nearly hitting a deer at four in the morning outside of Santa Fe.
Also writing a book based on Blue Record (or what I take it to mean). Yeah, fan boy. But I’m cool with that. Can’t wait for the new stuff.

Interesting about that last bit. Both the Red Album and Blue Record inspire a narrative in my head, too. I always think about it when I listen.

This band has so much energy, can’t wait for the new album.

  • Interesting

That first demo sounds like it might be the motif of the album. Digging it.

Yep, one of my favorite bands, too. I’d never heard them before I saw them in concert with Mastodon, MTBAM, High On Fire, etc., last spring in Oakland. They blew me away live. I immediately picked up their albums — including their First and Second EPs — and loved every minute of them. Can’t wait for the new stuff.

That said, those snippets are worthless.

Fucking love these dudes. I can’t wait to see what they come up with next. Their music paints such a vivid picture. And changes a little every time they release a new album. I was so worried with Blue Record that it’d just be a copy of Red Album. And their sublte yet substantial changes made it such a different, yet equally awesome thing. And John Baizley’s art is fucking bad ass too. Can’t wait to see em at Best Friends Day with fuckin C.O.C. (ANIMOSITY LINEUP!!!!)

obviously the album’s gonna be fuckin awesome, let’s think about what colour the album could be
