I MEAN, YOU’D EXPECT A VIDEO CALLED “THE SUCCUBUS” TO TAKE PLACE ON A PLAYGROUND, RIGHT?

I just saw this video for Tribune’s “The Succubus” for the first time and thought it was worth sharing with allay’all. The music is okay — it’s nothing you haven’t heard before — but the idea is kinda funny: basically, it’s a performance video like a thousand other performance videos, only instead of being in a warehouse or whatever, the band is rocking out on a playground.

It’s readily apparent that the band had zero budget for this thing, which isn’t such a big deal — but I still think this could have been funnier. I’m sure it’s not easy to procure small children to appear in a death metal video, but the best parts of this clip come at the beginning, when a few young ‘uns are frolicking in the background.

Of course, whether the video is great or merely more creative than most is irrelevant. From a promotional standpoint, Tribune will now have a reputation. Sure, it’ll be a reputation as “That band that made that video where they’re on a playground,” but a reputation nonetheless.

“Succubus” appears on Tribune’s Elder Lore/The Dark Arts, which you can check out here. The band is also on tour right now; dates are here.
