Sodom Get “Stigmatized”

Sodom - Epitome of Torture

Well, here’s a sentence I never thought I’d type: Sodom are streaming a new song on NPR’s website. It’s called “Stigmatized,” which is relatively inoffensive for a Sodom song title (see: “Fuck the Police,” “Sodomy and Lust,” “Volcanic Slut,” etc.), but still. If you’d told me ten years ago that the home of Jonathan Schwartz, Clean Air, and The Lost Art of Tibetan Scream Singing would be streaming Sodom I would have laughed in your face. The times they are a-changin’.

ANYWAY, the song is a catchy enough meat n’ taters deathrash ditty, which is to say, it’s nothing new for Sodom, and you probably already know if you’ll dig it or not. I think it pretty much epitomizes why I have nothing against Sodom but nothing for Sodom, either. It’s the kind of song that comes on while you’re at a metal bar and you don’t stop to headbang but you’re also not like “Who the fuck put this garbage on?”

So I know that wasn’t a glowing recommendation, but you can listen here.

“Stigmatized” will appear on Sodom’s Epitome of Torture, which comes out April 29 in Europe and May 7 in North America on SPV/Steamhammer.
