After the Burial Played a New Song Called “Anti-Pattern” Live

0

I continue to hold out hope that After the Burial’s new album will be the great return of tr00 Sumeriancore we all hope it will be! The original crop of Sumeriancore bands have all gone on to other, if not necessarily greener, pastures, so who better to fly the OG Sumeriancore flag high and proud once again than After the Burial, the undisputed progenitors of the genre?

The band performed a new song called “Anti-Patten” in Pittsburgh this past Friday on their tour with DevilDriver and Trivium, and from what I can tell from this fan-filmed footage it’s got at least one of the elements that made 2008’s breakthrough Rareform so good: DAT BOUNCE! Unfortunately the lead guitar heroics that made that album so awesome are nowhere to be seen here. Also, the band members could not look any less interested in the fact there is an audience there to watch them perform: either they’re concentrating really hard on playing their new song correctly, they had a bad day, or they’re totally over it. I will refrain from judgment, though, until hearing their new album in full: perhaps this song is one of the album’s more mosh-friendly cuts, chosen to play live to get audiences moving. Watch it above and see what you think.
