Hello MetalSucks reader! Welcome to the new Shit That Comes Out Today, your satanic bible of this week’s heavy new releases. We list ‘em, we spotlight ‘em, we link you to their preview jams and full streams — and we stick ‘em in a fancy Spotify playlist too (below) — all for your jammage! Now crank this shit up!

fear factory and burton seabell - genexus smallFear Factory
Genexus (Nuclear Blast)
On a playlist with: Machine Head, Mnemic, Coal Chamber
Listen Genexus full stream (here)

Fear Factory is the Ron Jeremy of industrial metal. There’s no reason to listen to Genexus unless you’re playing video games or having sexual relations with Optimus Prime. That being said, there are a few rockable moments. And true Fear Factory fans will obviously applaud this release, forgetting as usual that the clean vocals are simply abysmal and ruin the whole thing. There have been good Fear Factory songs in the past, though.

gnaw their tonguesGnaw Their Tongues
Abyss Of Longing Throats (Crucial Blast)
On a playlist with: Aderlating, Freddy Krueger
Listen “From The Black Mouth Of Spite” (here) “Through Flesh” (here)

Gnaw Their Tongues is very formless, noisy art metal. Instantly it will turn off anyone who likes a bit of crunch with their breakfast, and turn on anybody who likes to sit in a pentagram of candles and bleed just for the fun of it. Abyss Of Longing Throats would make excellent background noise for a really awesome Halloween display set up by late-middle aged empty-nesters trying to rekindle the ol’ spirit of scaring the fuck out of children.

necropsyNecropsy
Buried In The Woods (Xtreem)
On a playlist with: Funbre, Depravity, Purtenance
Listen Buried In The Woods full stream (here)

Man, between Cattle Decapitation’s newest (also today, baby!) and Buried In The Woods, we really have both ends of the death metal spectrum. Cattle Decapitation is modern, fresh, and American, this is classic, old school, and fucking Finnish. There are appreciable elements with both and shit, they even sound good side-by-side despite their dissimilarities! Favorite songs: “Cold Fart Morbidity” and “Best Day Ever”.

The Green River BurialThe Green River Burial
“Blight” 7″ (Bastardized)
On a playlist with: Desolated, Black Tongue, Lorna Shore
Listen “Armilus” (here)

Bad news: this is slammy djent-core. Good news: it’s only two songs! Okay, in their defense, these dudes are trying to do something interesting with the otherwise constrained trope of 0-0-0 riffs in breakdown formation. There’s more evil darkness and less fruitiness than you get with the others. Of the two songs, “Dajjal” is better (see Spotify playlist below)!

·

Agent FrescoAgent Fresco
Destrier (Long Branch/SPV)
On a playlist with: Lockerbie, Dikta, Limp Wrists
Listen “Dark Water” (here) “Wait For Me” (here) “See Hell” (here)

The problem with some metalheads is that they don’t get their metal heads out of their metal asses. I’m guilty as fucking charged, which is okay and everything. I.e., every time my girlfriend or anybody else recommends me indie shit, I never really catch on or even have an opinion. Well, Agent Fresco is kind of nice. The videos are nice. The dude’s voice is nice. It’s relaxing. It’s nice. Overall, a nice album.

·

black fast - terms of surrenderBlack Fast
Terms Of Surrender (eOne)
On a playlist with: Death, Voivod, Revocation
Listen “To Propagate The Void” (here) “I Conspire” (here)

No fussing about: Terms Of Surrender is a fucking awesome album. You ever hear something rip and immediately feel that pang of “oh god, this is so fucking metal?” Comparisons to Death are abound, and for good reason: there is absolutely no fat on this pig. Like, this is a lean hell-boar with tusks of steel going after your soft flesh in the night. Bow to Black Fast and let it spear you to death!
