Really Good #hardrock: Cavo, Bridges

0

CavoThere’s an audience for good, non-mook hard rock here in the MetalSucks readership, right? We don’t need to be super br00tal all the time?

I’m not talking about your Breaking Benjamins and your Disturbeds and your Theory of a Dead Mans and even your Shinedowns… fuck that stuff. But if you dig bands like Muse, Karnivool, Biffy Clyro, Dredg, even Coheed and Cambria, well then, read on, friend.

I first got hip to Cavo on their 2012 album Thick as Thieves, which I wrote about and jammed extensively at the time. The band offers a more nuanced version of hard rock than you’re probably accustomed to hearing, and that’s because the St. Louis four-piece are all legit players and excellent songwriters. The production by Blue October’s Matt Noveskey* doesn’t hurt either; dude’s always had a stellar ear for what makes a great song. And Cavo’s new album Bridges is absolutely full of great songs; once you spin this album a second time you’ll feel as if you can already hum along to all of them.

Stream Bridges below and order it here.

*Matt, if you’re reading this, hi, how are you buddy? I used to book (a+) machines under Mike R.
