We’ve been covering Iris Divine for a very long time; our first article on the band ran all the way back in 2009 and we haven’t let up since! The Virginia natives have consistently delivered excellent music that straddles the line between metal and hard rock, masterfully crafting songs that are catchy enough to give you an earworm but heavy enough to keep your head banging and complex enough to get you thinking. A quality band through and through.
Their latest effort, The Static and The Noise, is no exception. The album finds them picking up right where they left off with 2015’s Karma Sown, combining classic prog metal influences (Dream Theater, King’s X, Opeth, etc) with more accessible, class-A hard rock like Avenged Sevenfold and Stone Sour. It’s really quite remarkable how deftly these guys blend top-notch instrumental chops with great songwriting; they’re masters. A job well done, yet again!
The Static and The Noise is out now; buy it here or stream it below, along with a video for the album’s first single “Taking Back the Fall.”
