Video: Textures Perform with Former Vocalist Eric Kalsbeek at Their Final Show Ever

0

We shed a collective tear earlier this year when seminal progressive metal outfit Textures announced they’d be breaking up. But not before one final go-round through Europe, which culminated in the band’s final show EVER this past weekend in the band’s native Netherlands.

We knew the band’s last performance would be full of surprises, but no one could’ve predicted… oh, who are we kidding, we totally could’ve guessed that former vocalist Eric Kalsbeek (who sang on Drawing Circles and Silhouettes) would join the band on stage because of course!

And the guest appearance did not disappoint: Kalsbeek joined current vocalist Daniel de Jongh and guitarist Joe Tal for an acoustic version of the 2008 classic “Awake,” before the rest of the band took the stage and finished out the track with powerfully heavy aplomb. It’s a gorgeous performance, and both the band and audience seem WAY into it… I’m sorry I missed this show! Thankfully the band announced the whole thing was recorded and will be released as a DVD in 2018.
