SO DID UNEARTHLY TRANCE BREAK UP, OR JUST GIVE UP ON TOURING?

Tuesday, March 15th, 2011 at 4:00pm by

Sorry to harsh your afternoon mellow, but reader Andrew Jordan just noticed the following post on Unearthly Trance’s Facebook page:

That sounds pretty definitive in terms of the band doing any future shows. But does it mean that Unearthly Trance are done, or just done playing gigs? The band just released a new album, V, this past September on Relapse (it’s still streaming in full here), so it would be a bummer if they broke up a mere six months later. I have a message out to Relapse reps, but they’re en route to SXSW right now so I don’t know how quickly we’ll get an answer.

While we wait for some official word, feel free to be nervous in our comments section.

Jonathan brings his simple yet delicious recipe for “Spreading the Disease Grilled Cheese” and pairs it up with Eli’s own home-made “Bromato” tomato soup for yet another Cooking Contaminated episode that has our tummies rumbling. Watch the episode below and find the list of ingredients after the jump!

KEELHAUL DECIMATE BROOKLYN

Monday, August 3rd, 2009 at 2:30pm by

keelhaulLast night I had the privilege of attending the latest in the monthly series of Pitchfork’s Show No Mercy metal shows in Brooklyn, featuring Stats, Defeatist, Unearthly Trance, and Minsk supporting Keelhaul. I arrived a fan of Minsk — who certainly did not disappoint with their epic blend of doom, prog, sludge and punk — but I left a newly converted fan of Keelhaul, whose razor-tight set of angular post-metal riffs justly lived up to show promoter Brandon Stosuy’s description as “muscular.” Keelhaul absolutely fucking killed it, their furious Coalesce-on-steroids onslaught leaving me wondering how this band had slipped beneath my radar for so long.

THE BEAST WITH TOO MANY BACKS

Wednesday, October 22nd, 2008 at 4:13pm by

Like my e-comrade Vince, I too am planning to check out Canadian stoner/doom/mammal metallurgists Bison B.C. at tomorrow night’s CMJ Metal Blade/Relapse/Lifeforce showcase at Knitting Factory (Also playing: Psyopus, Tombs, This Or The Apocalypse, Left To Remain). Now if, like me, the very thought of CMJ causes you to break out in painful hives and cold sweats, the next chance for New Yorkers to see Bison B.C. will be as part of the all-day long (4pm – 4am, apparently) Beasts Of The East festival (tickets here) on November 2nd at Club Europa in Brooklyn.
